I'm pretty sure these rules rule out mortgages, deposits etc.

It's a stupid question then, because it's the most sensible thing to do

And it is what I would do as well

Well that's why the rule is in place, otherwise everybody would say mortgage/property related things

BluKoo might aswell have said - what do you do with your Salary every year if he wanted sensible answers.

I wouldn't know what to burn £18k on if it couldn't be a mortgage or anything that could be considered an investment.

We're debt free, bought the car we wanted not 12 months ago and wouldn't want to pay insurance on a second car... So, I don't know, trip to the states and redecoration, probably...

I'd add £15k to the house deposit fund, and go on to Vegas, New York and Cali for 10 days with the £3k.

I'd pack you're bag and go travelling and try establish some thing like a beach bar or somthing different using your photography skills. And no not a place in Good old USA or europe. In SE Asia or South America some deprived country where money goes along way. In our society 18K is a nice chunk but can soon go on a few luxury items.

The clear disregard for BluKoo's rules is turning me into a frothing rage.

I need to go for a walk to cool down.

Even with £18k start-up you'd soon realise it's more hassle than its worth.

I started with £50 and within 12 months was making around £600 a month profit. Not enough to quit your job on, not that you ever would because eBay could screw you over at any point, but enough not to be sniffed at.

Even then, I gave it up as the hassle wasn't worth the extra £600 a month, and that's saying a lot because I fuking live for money.

Let me guess, would £18k be the value of your Grandpa's investment present to you....
