Go to your bank and see if a loan is cheaper?

^^ THIS..

You should only ever borrow money to buy something that will make you money in the long term. Borrowing money to buy vehicles (unless its a classic and is going up in value) is just fucking stupid.

.

This bit isn't really true is it.

Outside of the usual argument of having it now vs saving and having it later, there is nothing wrong with borrowing money to buy a vehicle.

In this case, it doesn't look like the best idea, that doesn't mean it's never a good idea though.

You can decided one month to not put the money away in savings because maybe you need it for something more important like a new washing machine or a new phone etc..

You cant just simply decide to not pay your finance/loan.

Save the money for what you need, it works out better in the long term, you'll also be more careful with your money and tend to have more savings anyway.

Nothing worse than having loads of 'nice things' but actually being skint on paper

What if you have loads of nice things and still have money left for a washing machine?

Stupidity is a separate issue from getting whatever form of tic on an item.

What about a Yam for half the price? (YZF125)

4 stroke, but they are easy maintenance. There really is no point in forking out big bucks just to have the 2 stroke buzz. If you really want that, save till you have a full license, and get an Aprillia RS250 or Suzuki RGV250.

You will honestly regret it after a few months.

Get a cheap 125cc, save for the full license, get a bigger bike, and you'll look back with relief that you never spent that kinda money.

In relation, you could buy one of my Benelli Tornado's brand new with 0 miles for £6k, or a 2nd hand one for £4k. Italian exotics ftw. Or put simply, you could have a full on Jap supersport (600cc) or similar for less money than a 125cc.

Don't do it, really dont do it, pleaseeee!!!!

Had a YZF for a short space of time, didnt enjoy it tbh, four stroke felt wank on such a small capacity. Gearbox was a bit poo too, 1st gear was the shortest thing I've ever experienced. Seat was horrid. Looked decent though

I'll probably just look for an older rs125 in all honesty, cheers for the help

Finance is not a problem if your income & expenditure substantiates that its not, a problem only exists surrounding it when people buy things which in turn sees them riding along month to month financially on the bones of their arse.

The rs125 is extremely expensive and isn't seen as a great bike to do your tests on.
It doesn't have a great turning circle for the U turns for the Mod1 section and it requires a lot more clutch/rev control then something like a 600cc bike.

I would get something like a CBF500, Gs500, er6n etc.

I recently passed and got a 2005 SV650S on 11k for £1900, such an easy bike to ride. There are tons of other options, without being horrible, that rs125 is maybe one of the less logical choices.

Also, just a note to all bikers, go for chains with 1.6mm+ links otherwise bolt cutters will just destroy it in seconds. All the gold rated thatcham approved chains like Oxford Monster are useless. I only trust Pragmasis and Almax chains, forces thieves to use power tools, so makes things a whole lot more awkward for them.

If thats how you feel about that John then fair enough. I personally couldn't buy a vehicle on finance, ever.

Edit - to contradict myself slightly, unless it was 0% finance

Not everyone has 20k cash to go and buy one, or the 20k cash is sitting in bricks and mortar instead of paying it over 25 years so you could say your car wasn't on finance.

Are you suggesting that people would borrow money against their house to buy a 20k car?
