If you do a runner from the accident and you are spotted - they call the police

if you stick about or the car is fucked, they pick you and the car up, take you to the office and give you the bill. If you refuse to pay then they call the police I think.

how do they make you pay/how do people afford to pay it? I dont know many people that would have a spare 10+k sitting about just to pay for some armco .

I think you can pay in installments, I think most people just get a credit card though. You donthave to pay there and then, they give you an invoice

So i'm guessing if you take the invoice home and still don't pay then the UK bobbies will find out and come looking?

I don't know how anyone dares go with stuff like that.

Uk tracks don't charge if u crash I don't see y they do over there, they charge u enough to go round surely that should cover any accidents etc really.

Or even if they just put price up a bit per lap but made it do services, maintinsnce and repairs were included, like other have said things like this make me not wanna go there.

The problem is the track is so long and unforgiving it would cost shit loads more in crash repairs then the small tracks here

There are also no gravel traps, well barely any, and no infield if you come off you hit barrier basically

A lad I know did a Ring trip in his MK2 Focus RS and he said "never again". He said the traffic was terrible, both slow traffic in front and intimidating knobheads behind and the bumps made him very nervous of pushing the car in the slightest.

The track is simply too long for a mere mortal trackday enthusiast to really get to know intimately enough to enjoy pushing their pride and joy, not to mention the lack of run-off and proximity of most barriers.

When you add the thousands of pounds worth of Armco repairs... I struggle to see the appeal tbh.

Saying all that, I've not been brave enough for so much as an airfield trackday yet so maybe my opinion would change once I get my trackday wings.

but UK councils will if you take out street furniture, lamposts etc in a RTC

same as what the ring does, just happens its quicker and one way

Charges sound expensive but imagine the cost in loss of revenue from closing the track for two hours.

Plus probably 30/40 people running around trying to sort everything out plus engineered barriers won't come cheap.

I'm not surprised.

My brother got a bill for a lamppost but it wasn't the one he hit. Didn't pay.

If you haven't been to the Ring you really will never understand the appeal. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but I love that place and I wish I could afford to go there more often.
