JonnyJ method GTF

As it's worded
quote:
"I declare that the mileage record covered by the above vehicle will not exceed X miles during the duration of the policy.

I hearby confirm my understanding, that if the mileage limitation is exceeded, the Underwriters reserve the right to apply additional terms (i.e. additional Excess of Premium) to reflect their increased exposure and/or repudiate any future claim"

Do it at risk imo.

you obviously did 10k miles on the track

Can't see how the mileage as insured can be measured by the odometer, most of my cars get driven by other people on their policies.

If I declared my own mileage plus other people's, and they all did, everyone would be declaring too much.

I thought this. My landy was on limited milage, but i could drive any other motor and they would have no idea what milages i was actually on the road. Backwards imo

Also if for example if you said you have your car at 10k pa, and I'm going to use it for 1k, do you declare 10k or 11k? Because if declare 11k then you're technically covering me on your policy - which means its insured twice as I'm insured to drive other cars.

Same as my mate, he has comp SDP on his traders, he's not declared as part of mine as it would be completely redundant, but they're making out like he'd need to be?

Because a lot of people lie and say their car is in a locked garage, then claim, then the stats for that group of people gets worse.

Been a few cases on here where its cheaper to declare it on the street.

I'd suggest it's something also to do with the way crime has changed now and the fact the scum bags come through your front door to rob the keys rather than just take the car on it's own. I understand that the car insurance only cares about the car and not the house but I do wonder if it's linked in somehow.

your occupation messes with it. Students are higher than a management position for example.

If your car is on the drive or in the garage chances are they know that the car keys are inside. A Terrace street where the car could belong to 20 different houses is in certain eyes, less risk.

Mine went down £120 when I told them the location of the car was in a different postcode to my house - Which it is. Odd.

Why would you not start with the address where the car is kept, in the first place

Because I got a bigger garage while I was still finding quotes, but the garage is the other side of the street, which is a different postcode

£70 cashback on Dad's new Aviva policy through Quido!

Which means his 120d is insured for £170 a year!

Mind you, submitted 9 years proof of no claims. Get a letter saying they have received and it is 5 years.

Apparently 5 is the most they give but they keep a record of 9 if you move on.

Yea, my policy is registered to Pensby, but i'm based in Brawdy, Pembrokeshire. They have no issues with this. Meh, insurance is a proper blag!

Brentacre explained things to me when i rang them up to get them to match my renewal to Greenlight. Apparently the industry is - and i quote - 'on its arse'. They matched it though, and that was a £320 drop from my original quote. Renewals are calculated by the system judged on (amogst other things) current market value of car and risk of current climate apparently. Thats why its important to speak to someone - and why specialist companies can be better than the 'boggo' ones.

Figures are plucked from the air though!...

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

The thing that makes the biggest difference for me was adding my Mum and Dad as named drivers on the policy. Completely legal as I'm still the main driver. Dropped my premium from about £350 to about £200.

So you'd rather spend the extra £150?

to take this a stage further what about driving when not on a public road, ie a track.

last month i drove round Rockingham for the best art of three hours or more covering more than 200miles

a small drop in the ocean perhaps but never the less this is mileage on the car where i am not insured and therefore not covered by the insurance policy thus not relevant miles??

i dont trackday very often, and even less so an open pit lane, but for those who do in their daily drive/road legal car they must easily be putting 1000-2000 or more miles a year on....
