Awesome morning. Went out in Astra twice and Corsa 3 times and a hot lap.
All instructors were awesome apart from the older Scottish guy who wanted me to back off before wvwn getting to the brake signs, and muttering "overcooked" at every corner. It was as if he didn't want to be there or us be there.
Rest of my instructors were young guys and awesome. One even kept me out for 5 laps and said he'd rather stay out with a good driver than come in and get a crap one. Was well chuffed with that.

Just got back my self was a cracking day out, as said guys were really helpful and really pushed you no the cars.
Probably shouldn't of eaten and got straight in for a hot lap they had no care for the other cars is was hilarious how we didn't wipe them all out ill never no. He was cracking jokes and all sorts whilest flying round.
Think I got 4 goes out in the end and was well chuffed with it, the corsa was a great little car out on track.

Superb day, corsa was much more at home on the track than the Astra, didn't bother with the insignia just alternated between the corsa and Astra.
Nearly pulled the handle off the roof on nurburgring on the hot lap.

Did any one else notice how bad the corsa brakes felt under heavy use around the track? The Astra's felt really sharp and precise every time I went out in one. However the corsa always seemed like they were struggling, they were juddering under breaking and sending the steering wheel all over the shop on every car one I drove.

That's because the disks were warped from the abuse mate.

They were all changed in the morning according to one of the guys there and he was saying they were awful on the corsa. Fading really quick and distorting and that the Astra's were holding up a lot lot better.
I put it down to the abuse to but they are both the astra and corsa being given death all day so just had me intregued.
There was one that wasn't warped I assume as wasn't juddering but faded really quick again I appreciate it was on loop so I guess it's just down to that, but again the astra was the same and just seemed to perform better

Astra brakes were immense compared to the Corsa I just assumed the corsa ones had died since I was an afternoon session.

I had a couple of juddery Corsa's. Brakes still worked okay but loads of vibration through steering.
The Corsa was stil a lot more fun IMO. Wasn't that impressed with the Astra.

Yeah I have to agree the corsa was miles more fun for me to, astra was a bit to clumberson and some what unstable under really heavy braking

I'm genuinely looking into them, one near me I'm going to pop over and view. It's the fuel that concerns me a bit, after having a mini and returning 26mpg when being miss daisy I'm trying to find out from people who own then what there actually capable of getting. After being on track a few times in the last week feel I've got the bug and the corsa would be the perfect answer.
Could be out the window with the idea for a scirocco and get a corsa for 12 months to have some fun in.

If the Corsa is similar to the earlier VXR's it'll be shite on fuel.

Yeah that's my thinking ;-( need to use it travel to work and back don't really fancy a car I can't use daily and have spent a lot on.
The nurburgring Astra's are going for a good price, cant believe I'm back looking at them after deciding on a diesel scirocco least there plan works

Remember that the ones we drove were Burgs weren't they? So better equipped and therefore more capable.

Yeah there the ones I'm looking at the burgs, a lot more better equipped then the 'normal' VXR.

Corsa is good on track, but Astra is easier to live with.

I agree. For a daily I'd have another Astra. For track I'd have the Corsa. Insane how capable they are especially in the hands of a pro. I went out with Jonny Adam. Was an eye opener!

They were mental the passenger runs with the pros, seemed so sloppy yet so fast. By sloppy I mean sliding all over the place ect, but certainly worked over took absolutely every think like they were going backwards

£25 I paid off groupon but its only £35 if you book on VXRpowerevents.co.uk which I think is still very good value.
Very well run days and a great day out, well morning or afternoon
