I like the box and the remote. Plex needs to encode most of my stuff though so takes ages, box running the server can barely handle it.

got mine, piece of piss set up, stream 1080p perfectly from plex media server

In that case I think i'll stick with SkyHD, for the simple fact of the massive amount of features on SkyHD - It would be a good budget option though for someone that doesnt spend much time at home.

Yeah, its definitely not for replacing Sky! - But for media streaming, for a tenner it's brilliant tbf

So got the device, installed plex, but am I right in thinking you cannot get to the Apps until you have signed up to nowtv and signed into your account?

I used our Sky login, didn't have to sign up to anything extra.
Not sure if you haven't got a sky login

No harm signing up a NowTV account. You don't have to pay anything or give card details, not unless you actually want the Sky aspect.
