The suspension on them is the bit that costs an arm and a leg. No easy way to fit normal suspension on them either from what I understand.

If it shares the same box as the first generation E55, they are a bit of an Achilles heel too.
Still a lovely motor to drive.
I always liked the V12 Coupe before this. The one with the little reversing bars that pop out of the 1/4 panels.

Mr jambo i actually live just outside Aylesbury now but when i'm at the track you are more than welcome to have a blast. Bring some ear muffs though.
They cost fuck all to buy these now, people are scared to run them and sometimes, rightly so but can't beat a v8 for noise

If you saw this car can you honestly say that you wouldn't assume that it belonged to somebody of that ethnicity?
Thought so. And not that it matters in the slightest but that was how I decided to start my thread.

I wouldn't have actually. My only thought would have been, ''where the hell did the wheels go?''
In my experience, that mob tend to buy anything but something that could use that much petrol, as they are such money minded motherfuckers.

I'd like someone to explain the reason why they deprecate so much if they're so reliable? SL600 AMG's are cheap, but the possible bills have always put me off buying one.

Not reliability ed. it's a machine and bits wear out as they get used/age. Hence huge bills.
Still would though

High ins groups, plus big fuel bills, plus expensive trim, service parts, body panels and general parts & components all add to the depreciation factor.
Also, after Mercedes amalgamated with Chrysler, rather than Chrysler taking on Merc quality, Merc took on some of Chrysler's quality and practices. Hence a lot of post '96 stuff being worth less than earlier models.
I was recently pricing up E Class estates on ebay etc and it really shows.
At the bottom of the price range where the high milers with tatty bodywork & interiors live, there were W124s still commanding a grand and more, while a few W210 equivalents that were several years younger were going for roughly eight hundred quid.
I was quite surprised.

I was looking at buying an SL600 Bi turbo but they can suffer with coil pack issues. Cost of a replacement, well over a grand from MB and almost 800 from GSF.
