too expensive, sound like a misery guts but i refuse to pay to go in places which are free every other day of the year, i refuse to wait for 30mins to an hour a time to get a drink (mainly then missing the actual countdown anyway), paying twice the odds to taxi wankers, feel shit the next day , then have work the day after.

waste of money in my opinion, if i had to do something it would be to find someone stupid enough to have a house party.

Was going to be staying in but got a late invite to a black tie do at a friends country pub, should be nice. Not all that fussed for New Years normally but it'll be nice to smarten up, night out with the wife and catch up with some friends we haven't seen in a while.

Plus it's free

NYE is always overrated.

Xmas Eve far better night.

Heading to York later on for a few hours then back to ours. My brothers both planning on doing the same so hopefully party will continue!

Off round my mates like last year. Got a load of booze, snacks and pulled pork. Pointless going in to town, prices get hiked up and regular pubs charge to gain entry.

I think for last 15 or so years people have realised it's usually shit, but 10 years ago you would have been caused all sorts and peer pressure would have led more people to going out.
Now it's much less frowned upon.

Would rather go out a week before or a week after

The thing I find funny with the whole charging for entry thing is that if I wouldn't walk in to a shithole when it's free why would I then pay for the same privilege simply because it's new year.

(I'm mainly referring to my local but town is the same)

I don't think anywhere here will be charging in round here.
I'll be off somewhere else if they do.

My local pub (less than 40 sec walk) charges for entry on NYE. Sells out every year though

I don't know how non town centre places can get away with it.

We take a fortune on NYE, theres no need to charge in.
