I would say thats bang on the money for 'S' cars. 'RS' is a different kettle of fish.
Exactly. Look at the range in more detail.
S3, mild
RS3, mad
S4, mild,
RS4, mad,
S6, mild
RS6, mad,,
If you want the all out bonkers model with big bumpers and everything, then you get an RS model. The S range has nearly all the toys, but usually slower (but by no means slouches) than the RS models. All the way through the range.
Watched a good vid from the evo bloke the other week, the S4 with its 3.0 V6 Supercharged Vs RS4 4.2 V8. The S gets stuffed to start with, then gets a remap, and sits on the RS4's ass all the way to top speed at Brunters.
Also, the RS range demands a huge premium. S4's are around £40,300 starting price, the RS4 starts at £55k. A lot of difference!
M135 and new S3 are practically bang on starting price though, and imo top end of the "hot hatches" in terms of quality. Might not hustle round a track as quick as the other hot hatches, but how much road vs track driving do you do in them? The worst thing about the BMW is the dash and the rear end (IMO). They should have made more 1M's though
