One for you actually Jules. Your Panerai. Is that from before they started making their own movements again. Is that from Valjoux?

In house P9000 in mine.

Panerai use ETA/Valjoix for their base movements. As do many others, however they don't just stick a stock movement in as I'm sure you are aware.

Mind you, im under no illusion that certain brands trade off their name/reputation and price accordingly.

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead rather than start a new one!

I'm looking to get my first 'proper' watch for my 30th in a couple of months... I have a budget of around £1,700.

I guess for me the 'go-to' brand for this kind of price has always been Tag Heuer. Been looking at loads of those, the main problem I have is that I have lady wrists lol, so kinda of need the smaller dial size! Colour wise I love this kind of thing...

But I still think it'll be a little too big! In complete contrast to that I love some Bell & Ross stuff too, and should be able to get an entry price one on my budget...

My favourite brand is U-Boat but unfortunately they're all massive basically looking for recommendations of watches with smaller dial sizes. Also, Westfield's or Bluewater any good for shops and trying watches on? Is there any etiquette of trying to get a discount? Thanks...

I got my rolex from Ernest Jones in blue water they are so helpful and they have a many different bands of watches pop over if it's close and try some on see what you like. I didn't like rolexs but tried one on then had to get it.

Thanks. The annoying thing is though hardly any websites actually let you set the filters by dial size... takes ages going through them all!
