I agree but the r comes in a very basic spec

Doesn't even get leather or dab radio so options soon add up

Near 35k with nav leather and wheels

Shocking what you have to add to some premium cars to get a spec that you'd have any hope of selling in the future.

The guy I bought the Leon off has ordered one of these. No danger would I pay over £40k for a golf. He paid a lot less than that for his tho. Supposedly 360bhp from just a straight map on them, no other mods at all. So I suppose 400bhp wouldn't be to difficult to achieve.

Its not brand new and running costs ( if you took care of it) would be astronomical in comparison.

Just had a look, for 40k its 8 years old. I know its really fast and everything but that's not even nearly comparable.

You'd have to be mad to spend £41k on a fast Golf.

No doubt will be a great car. I have a m135i and is fantastic and certainly wouldn't have a gold over this.

Infact top gear this week shows gta vs m135i I believe the m135i tries to kill clarkson and he kind of slates it after that but it posts a fantastic time.

Not only have they wen't and fitted horrid Halfords style wheels, it also looks like they have spray tinted the rear lights. Or possibly a pair of tights.

Have fun doing this in your FWD hatch with a faux AWD system bolted on.

Could say, have fun with the most boring dials ever invented, and on the off chance is snows, enjoy being at home. Plus its ruddy ugly outside, and I have more room in my pockets than it does a boot. Great engine, average day to day car.

tbh, I don't get the hate with the haldex system. Its a road car, it just provides power when its needed. If you want a 4x4 to go offroad, you dont buy a 300bhp hothatch or a car with a rally pedigree. But when its needed, its there.

Haters gotta hate. Its a Golf, its overpriced, but if you can afford one, and you like it, you'll buy one. If you can't afford/don't like it, you won't.

Thing is with the Golf/Audi, you buy it, you drive it in any weather type, occasionally send it to the Polish to clean it, and then sell it, and generally it wont go wrong and is a nice place to be on the daily grind to work where you'll spend majority of your time. Also good on long distance trips, comfy, powerful enough, quiet and refined. Don't get the beef. Looks are purely personal taste and everyone will be different.

Don't get me wrong, I love the M135i but that's a terrible argument. Nobody drives like that in reality.

Loads of 4wd cars use haldex? Evoque being one and that gets pretty good reviews for off roading.

I know the golf isn't a 4x4, just that there's nothing wrong with haldex.

Current gen Haldex isn't too bad. 1st generation (mk4 golf r32 etc) was crap. You can get the arse out with the current stuff, not in a massive way mind you

Driven one thanks. Great engine, hate the dash. Good quality, but they need to update the old skool dials. Stand by my comments.
