Anyone who has a 'weekend' car (a car that you only take on track/ will only use on a dry day for pleasure) is allowed to call their commuting/ general slogging about car a daily. Anyone who has one car they use for driving for pleasure, getting to work and slogging about has a car since there's no need to differentiate between more than one.
I thought Jed had a track car so I don't know why he's getting shit

My M3 is my daily. Is as at home over speed bumps as it is nailing it round the local race track.
Get a better car.

Thought you got a faggy citroen?
Also.... Daily is for people with two cars (one of which is a special weekend car)

Jambo that's a pretty arrogant view do you not think? I've got a fairly average car in the SX but I'd much rather not need to drive it everywhere. I'm waiting to hear back from a job where I might have a van, being able to take off 6000+miles a year from the SX would mean I'd be both saving money in the short term on wear and tear items and long term in the fact that I can sell it on for more since it'll have less miles.
I'm not saying these people you used to see on here with a 1.4 sport done up pretty nicely then a 1.0 12v for a 'daily' were justified. Just that if it makes sense cost wise most people with a half decent car would ultimately prefer not to put so many miles on it.

Is hardly call being sensible arrogant, perhaps you misunderstood. I'm not saying buy an M3, but most factory produced cars without daft suspension are quite happy to be used on the road in complete comfort negating the need for a financially dubious "daily" and most are cheaper than making your car so difficult to use everyday.
Sure if you want to keep the miles down on your pride and joy that's sensible, but why keep miles down? For value? Getting a daily would cost more in the most case.
Works van is ideal, but not a choice for everyone.

I'm aware of the meaning, it's a word I despise.
And yes I do have a Citroen.

What about not wanting to use it every day - so when you do use it; it feels special

If you have a car you use only in the weekend, then that's the special one. The other one is just "a car". Why does it need a title, except to point out it's not your only car, which in itself is a pointless exercise?

'I'm going through to Edinburgh for a run at the weekend in the car'
'which one, the 500bhp skyline or the diesel?'
'the diesel'
As opposed to
'I'm going a run through to Edinburgh in the daily at the weekend'

Flol this place.
You can replace 500bhp skyline and diesel with any words you want. The fact is, the car you use most is the daily. I was making the point that if you do what Balling suggests and just call them both 'cars' it's kind of going too far with the whole business of not specifically tagging a car with a term.
If you had a 500bhp skyline for a toy but an astra diesel estate to use as a daily you could obviously just call them 'the Nissan' and 'the Vauxhall'. At the end of the day, everyone has different terms for different things. I bet there aren't many people down south who call a meal a chit, that's a name for your lunch or something up here. I agree the internet has kind of pushed the word daily on us, the only time I find its use annoying though is as above, when people with a pretty decent car get pretty much the exact same car as 'a daily', just so that they can have a 'daily driver' and be all Internet.

Also, will a standard diesel vectra ever be a special weekend car? If not, why call it a daily?
My car is just my car. I use it every day, in any weather. It has no preference or rules as to when I can and can't drive it.
