Also, how much do you reckon a bodyshop would charge for this service?

Not bad actually. The kit is 20 quid and then i'd need to buy a sealant aswell.

Probably have south east tax on that down here though.

Get sanded with 80 grit. Upto 3000. Then sprayed over with UV protectant spray.

80 grit?! By hand or with tools? I'm surprised there's any glass left

Yeah 80 grit. You have to strip off the UV protectant before applying new. It's done with da sander.

Put him in a wheel chair, he's about the right height then, and you pass him the stuff job done

Quite a few sealants do..
If you do wetsand them Ben. Don't forget to change direction as you change paper grades
So go from top to bottom then when you change to a lower grit go from side to side.

Not true. Or at least certainly not to the extent that's suitable for reprotecting headlamps. This is the main reason I tend not to get involved with flatting them back as they'll rapidly re-yellow / deteriorate again if they're not reprotected.

T cut will improve it. I told my dad to do it on his focus. Worked a treat.

We use the Kent kit aswell. It's good stuff but not cheap.

The hardest part is getting the old stuff off. Only go to 180 personally and build it up to 1000.

On a DA it's not to bad but it's not your usual hobby like products.

I've used the 3M kit loads, effectively its something like 600 grit emery, followed by 800grit, followed by 3000 (wet) followed by polishing.

I bought the kit, and then bought loads of replacement velcro pads, and use my Mop to polish up.

Mask, and then gaffa tape the surrounding paint, bloody well, as you catch the sand paper on it and it'll fuck the paint.

I'd happy do it for you too.

I used the 3M kit on my lenses recently - best results of the 3-4 different things I tried!

Fuck me the results on these headlights are impressive. My astra is doing a similar thing but only on one side aswell. I'm just scared to go at it with a sander.

Did my vectra, started with 800 then 1000 then onto micro mesh cloth at 1500, 3600, 6000 and finish with 8000. Then greygate plastic polish. brings them up like new.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
