Towing them on a trailer or with a bar? Also bmw sized, is it 1 series sized or x5 sized 
Max you can tow on a braked trailer without your proper towing licence is 3500kg (that is combined weight, towcar, trailer and whatevers on the trailer) I think also that the trailer and contents cant weigh more than your car, i.e you cant tow 2000kg with a 1500kg car.

If I was to tow anything it would be an e46 sized car on a trailer. Would be good to have a vehicle there if I ever needed it.
Anyway as for my options, I think it's between an X5 and an L200 even though they are completely different

ye that's a good point. I know they'll fit, was wanting something that I didn't have to take the front wheel off really.
I have been using a rover estate but it's a bit of a pain with certain bikes.

I put my motorbike in back of my l200 . It will easily take a bike just put tailgate down . It sounds to me like these suggestions are overkill when a rack would do Job that u could fit to any car

If you do alot of general driving then an L200 might be a bit of overkill and seem like a tractor compared to an x5 with regards to comfort, cruising speed / revs etc.
Why dont you want a bike rack? Dont have to dismantle bikes like you say, can carry several if needed and keeps them out the car so no risk of scrapes, damaged interior and dirt

We use the same on my dads x3, great system, when the bar is removed there isnt a single sign its ever had one

I'm wanting a work vehicle. I know I can just put a tow bar on anything but would be nice to have a vehicle that I can just use for whatever. I do a lot of bike selling and also breaking cars so to have something that I can just chuck stuff in the back would be helpful. As I said I currently use my dads old car (rover 75) and I want something of my own and a car that I actually like.
I've always wanted a pick up and I think it'll suit my needs for whatever jobs that I need to do.
I'm also not putting a tow bar on my Clubsport

What about an L200 pickup with a fork mount(s) fitted so you just take the front wheel out and using the quick release you fasten it to the bracket?
