The golf R is a quick motor but its purely down to the 4wd grip which is only beneficial on take off. On the move any other car with similar power will be just as quick if not quicker due to the transmission losses of the 4wd system.
You put one with 380bhp against mine which has the exact same engine and turbo and do a 30-130mph run and I think it would be pretty much level pegging or mine just taking it due to the losses/weight the golf has.
I myself have quite an impressive list that I've beaten on road and track

My personal favourite is the video of the bloke 'keeping up with a lambo' I'll let you be the judge of that one lol

You have a mapped 330d though with a shit load more torque, and 2wd with less transmission losses etc and you are proud that it was marginally pulling away. I would have been gutted.

Its in essence an Audi S3.. 275 bhp 2.0 turbo
Quick but not fast.. had a brief read through, some laughable, some impressive - some dude with a 450bhp example.. could imagine that being a hoot to drive

I'd say the 0-60 is impressive Chris.
The five litre QV Countach is only 0.3 of a second quicker to sixty.

The new s3 is quicker by over half a second and modded ones with just a tuning box will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, IMO that's bloody quick for a fairly heavy car

About the same as my Corsa, and I think that is quick.

Ate, the audi ttrs with its 350 bhp will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds according to my mate and his vbox data.. That is equally impressive.
Bloody electronics

Yeah imagine what the new rs3 will do performance tuning is getting mental, to think a few year back ferraris and Porsches were the benchmark at 4.5/5 seconds and these days you can have a hatchback or estate seriously embarrassing them all because of advanced 4wd systems and electronics

I wouldn't be too sure... If it's anything like the Haldex system in my TTRS it only engages 4WD when it loses traction (like off the line) then goes FWD therefore not losing massive transmission loses like an Evo or Scooby say.
I've never experienced a Golf R. But if it's anything like the RS engine when tweaked... I can quite believe the performance they say it has!

Put it this way, a McLaren F1 weighs just over a ton has 627bhp and does 0-60 in 3.2, no chance is an audi TT which weighs more with 350bhp within a few tenths of a second of that

mapped mk7 R are doing sub 10 secs to 100 now
Assuming claims are accurate - even if there not its mightly quick
Simple Revo stage one remap and look at what the Golf R can do.
0-60 3.7s
0-100 9.2s
Standing 1/4 mile 12.1s

I dont understand why its not hard to believe? an evo FQ360 with only 360bhp has a book time of 4 sec for 0-60? not just about weight, I guess its how it puts the power down and the 4WD system, obviously it would be a different story after 60.

Not sure about a 350bhp one (not sure where that figure came from as they are 340bhp or 360bhp if you have the PLUS model) but there are several Re-Mapped ones out there (400-420bhp) that have run Mid 11's 1/4mile, Mid 3secs to 60 and sub 8 secs to 100mph!
To to put it into perspective just how good the 4wd system is... I can put all of the power of mine (440bhp & 500lbs ft Torque) down to the ground in 1st & 2nd..... in wet conditions!!! with TC off. Its quite simply mind boggling
