My sister has a Tiguan R Line DSG. It's ace. Really nice car.
What about an Audi SQ5?

Brand new shape X3 is lush, not keen on the old one.
Colleague has a fully loaded AWD Kia Sportage. It is a proper nice place to site.
Considered the new Ford Kuga thing (not called Kuga now). Looks good and if the Fiesta/Focus is anything to go by it will be nice.
Can't help but think a saloon equivalent in any marque will be cheaper and same spec etc.

Oddly, I hate the X3.
Had an X5, and looking at getting another.
Thought about MLs?

Driven one? I had the pleasure of doing 200 miles in an Enterprise rental.
It had the 1.6 engine, was gutless and had extremely poor economy for a 14 plate modern car. We are talking 38mpg. The other alternative is a 1.4 16v or 1.7 CDTi.
Boot was tiny and driving position weird. Neither high nor low. And the dash and bonnet just far too long.
Astra is better, and probably cheaper.
But then I'd have the Focus over both.

Yes, plenty. Wife is about to take delivery of her 4th, all 1.7cdti's 4WD SE spec. IMO, a great drive, very well spec'd (sat nav, full heated Lester, heated wheel, afl, Bluetooth). Newer 19 inch wheels and side steps finish them a treat from the outside.
You had the worst engine possible out of the range, don't judge the others based on that!

38mpg is more than enough from a 1.6 petrol of that size.

Get a hell of a lot more BMW if you stay away from the 4x4's.

Not a bad looking car but I'd want something a bit more manly for a 4x4 auto.
