Compared to a Kia maybe not. But this is proper tyres in proper sizes. Surely driving an X5 you know that

The 'Proper' run-flats for the X5 Sport are £250-280 a corner.. If you buy budget tyres the rears last about 4 seconds and the fronts 10.

When I sold my M3 last year it had about 150k on it give or take. Was Black on black with LED rears and CSL reps. Sold it for about 5k IIRC.

I never keep cars long enough so I'm in a position where I have to buy tyres

Explain?
I've had cars with over 200k miles on and they caused me no problems, drove fine.
Had cars with 70k on and caused me nothing but problems and a fortune in repairs.
I've just blown a 20k mile range rover engine up . My van has done 160k now n runs fine and gets hammered every day . I think if price is right and works been done it's just a number

I've seen engines come back with a piston through the side of the block after 200 miles, so mileage is mostly irrelevant to a point.
Iirc it was 67 engines in brand new cars. Poor sods.

These aren't cheap tyres though, I'm just saying tyre prices have come down a lot in recent years and that's for top brands

You are confusing manufacturing defect, with the risk of a higher mile engine that has could suffer from wear and tear.
Nobody says cars cannot do that sort of mileage, but there is a substantially higher risk of a 140k mile engine (and associated components) going wrong than a 20k example. It is why they are valued the way they are. This and people seem to overlook the rest of the car and components when talking about mileage as if the engine is the only thing to wear. This comes with age, as well as mileage too. That is applicable for cars used to little, for short journeys and cars used for long periods.
Well maintained high milers are more likely to go wrong, or require costly repairs than lower mile cars of similar maintenance record.

I'm not confusing the two at all. It was simply an example of things going wrong regardless of mileage.
It's complete luck. My engine has been bullet proof, whereas others have had numerous problems. Luck of the draw.

Its risk assessment, if your statement where true, cars would not depreciate.

I completely agree, but there are always winners and losers as such. All depends on how lucky you are
