From your used list astra vxr
Pokey, handles we enough, looks fairly modern still
Do like clios but its always a risk going back to an old car..
If you found leasing ok i would be all over a fiesta st. Give one a test drive and see if you.fall for it
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

Astra vxr is awful to drive though you would get bored of it in about a week, gearbox, stem seals and turbos fall apart too, and 99.999999% have been owned and abused by an arsehole.

Can I ask why you are so worried about running an older car? With the limited amount of miles you do, I can't see the maintenance being that much, I'd rather have something I own with a decent spec, and you can mess about with, than a basic-ish are you can't touch.

Older cars are money pits, been there an done it many times. They are great fun don't get me wrong but it's a constant battle.
Astra I would worry about being bored with, plus none of them have any spec at all and are oddly (IMO) lverpriced for a low miles one. However seen a couple of new VXRs Tha come into budget if PCP etc

Seems very strange to be trying to decide between an old car or a brand new-lease car?
Generally people are either the sort who would entertain the idea of a brand new lease car or not, its rare to be someone who would consider a 10+ year old car OR a brand new car

..You've been going on about an ML270 for a while but when your list also contained a 1 series, an SL and a Astra VXR the mind does boggle

I'm slightly in the same boat really, always known what I wanted next and was happy to save / spend / finance to get it.
At the point now where there is nothing that really wants to make me spend out or finance, who'd of thought a TT which I never ever thought I would want would be my perfect car
Should mention, I want plenty but things I know are not sensible are excluded now I am old and sensible

I love cars, appreciate all kinds and like driving big wobbly 4x4's as much as I like little pocket rockets.
There is too much choice!
Ian that's how I feel always knew what I wanted next etc and now I am kind of lost I'll be honest ML270 is front runner. Might be tempted by a tg!

In that case, set a budget and wait for a bargain!
Searching for 'The car' is the worst thing you can do, just sit back with the cash and wait.. Much like fishing

You do drive a slow van though so probably felt faster than it really was.
