So bit of a further update, went to a ford specialist round the back of work today
Got them to diagnose and Ian and Steve were right, both were faulty so both the high speed and low speed fan were not working, changed and fixed and so now have a working rad fan again
But then yet another problem was found, on the ramp tech noticed a crack in some of the brake pipes, could possibly burst if I stamped hard enough on track, had some new ones in the box of spares I had luckily (think the old owner may have known but not told me) so go those changed
Garage took it out on a test drive to check everything and all looked good to be taken home with me same day...
But suddenly car conked out with an electrical issue so back in while they check it out (possibly a fuse)
Had to borrow a works car to get home but should get it back tomorrow and track ready for Combe in a couple of weeks (hope so as I'm off to Croatia on hols in a couple of days so no time to fix it between now and then)

Crank sensor if you've disturbed the plug under the coil pack doing the temp job, code is P033 something.

So got the car back, both high and low speed fans are now working
Reason for the car conking out is the aftermarket fuses that have been jammed in
The 2 yellow fuses in this pic (2nd from the left and the far end one on the right)
Got some spare temporary ones in to get me home but no gaurantee it wont do it again
Ian can you post me some spares out again please mate and ill pay you at Combe

Apart from that the car is pretty much ready to go
Will replace the fuses and one last tidy up job to do on the bonnet pins next week when im back from croatia (the rivets the latches have been attached with are far too small and starting to come loose)
Will redrill and bolt it down properly, dont fancy the bonnet flying up going down the straights at combe or the motorway for that matter

Got the new spare fuses from Ian (cheers mate) fuck knows what the others were from
So quick swap and that was sorted
Next job was sort out the bonnet latches, left one was loose and held in by one rivet, on closer inspection they were tiny and not up to the job
Noticed aswell they hadnt gone through the bonnet completely just the outter skim, kinda dangerous at motorway speeds, went mum and dads but had to tie weld wire to the bonnet just in case the latches came off on the drive
Pulled up and got to work and typically starts to rain so had to work half in half out of the garage 
This shows the tiny rivets that were on there before
And so drilled some new holes and put a short 10mm nut and bolt either side, not going anywhere this time

No rain today so did my other tidy up jobs
First had to get rid of the hippy tree decals on each side of the car (previous owners business) so whipped them off but kept the 32 as thought it looked ok (plus im only a year and half away from 32 anyway lol)

Next up noticed the previous owner had riveted on some blue rubber/plastic stone protection on the quarters, but one side was missing as it has had a scrape so decided to make some new ones, had some old black mudflaps that was a spare set for my old scooby so canibilised them to make new covers (and cover up any old damage and quarter panel rust haha
Doesnt look amazing but looks alright to me and better then before
Previous owner air holes in the rear bumper were a bit wonky (already on one side but not much i could do about this) so decided to make every other one bigger to try and get it more of a horizontal line (made a bit of a pigs ear of the middle one but never mind haha)
Then there was some cable ties to put on to secure the air filter better in the engine bay (didnt get any pics) and also used them to tidy up loose wires in the car and ripped out the radio airel that wasnt connected to anything either end
Could do with some new wipers all round as the current ones are like wood lol, can do that next week but overall ready to race

Finally did my first track day in the Puma, the usual test bed- Castle Combe at the good old Action days
first session at 11am out in the pissing rain, soaking wet track on standard road tyres (the 2 fronts were different brands  )
but fuck it they had lots of tread so i will wear these out and then upgrade them
did surprisingly well considering the conditions, struggled for a grip in more places than others but on the straights felt good, didnt matter how much BHP you had, the playing feild was pretty levelled out by the rain
(recommend to watch in HD) had a good battle with Colt, halfway round who i have raced in my old Corsa before which was fun

then the track dried in the afternoon and did a double header, 3.30 finish, straight through the pits and back out again at 3.45
dry grip was next to bugger all in the long corners, bit of predictable lift off oversteer but overall great fun, cheap track cars are the way forward

thats it for now, Trax in 2 weeks which should be good , tyres should be fucked after this so will look into better rubber after Trax but will give the car another kicking until then

Brake pipes are common and not related to mileage, worth a check if they're original and being used in anger.

Bit of an update, had a good day out at Trax on Sunday for some cheap track time to get the Puma another thrashing
good setup as usual from the weekend racer mob
random entry picture i had no idea was taken lol
the only 2 pics i found of me on track which were nicked from a youtube vid
got some vids taken on the go-pro though
1st out on the 12.40 session, took Pick4rd out with me on a passenger ride, car was great fun, predictable lift of oversteer and great under braking, managed to outbrake a load of people, even managed to get past an MX5 turbo. Lots of straight line warriors out on track. Only thing that lets the car down is tyres (but always said i will burn off the standard budget tyres the car has as they have loads of tread left to use) maybe some track tyres next year and this will be a right weapon

thats probably gonna be it for the year now, talking to a friend about getting some carbon fibre off cuts he has spare to make into some bumper canards, gonna make a front splitter as i think they look boss and the extra aero cant hurt (maybe make a rear diffuser like ians if i have the time)
but did notice the aftermarket steering wheel boss is a little loose after all the abuse, but this should be an easy fix (will speak to the Puma parts bin Ian again for a replacement clock spring as the current one looks like it will break when i get it off)

on lowering springs from what i can tell
standard discs and pads which i have replaced recently, just does well under braking as it weighs as much as a bean tin.....
plus a few CS members will tell you i like to brake late

Good to hear yours is still quite standard,
I am eyeing one up after spotting how cheap they are to buy, i dont want to throw much money at it, literally buy it, gut it, track it.

that was my plan but i was lucky enough to find one dirt cheap for £450- but the clutch was on its last legs (hence the price)
but mine was a track car when i bought it
roll cage
stripped
bucket seats and harnesses
gauges
steering wheel
did have a blue fin plug and play remap as it pops and bangs from the exhaust on the overrun
but pros are
-cheap to buy
-cheap to maintain
-Ian has loads of spares
-spares are cheap
-clutch was cheap
-brakes are fine in standard form even when tracking and getting tons of abuse
-wont cry into my pint if i bin it
-cheap replacement shells are dime a dozen
-good at cornering- with decent track tyres
cons
-no top end/straight line speed
-not much in the way of making it have more power without spending ££££

mines got more or less a different budget brand on every corner
funnily enough it did well in the wet at combe, probs because everyone else was on track'ish slicks and mine had loads of tread
