They make money on cars to sell on in good condition with low miles
They make money on arrangement fees and service packages

That's a very odd thing to worry about, but thank you for your concern Jimbob

The making money argument is a weak one, if you went and bought a car cash from a dealer you'd still expect to pay for the cup of tea somewhere during the deal.

UPDATE, Audi put back together and it runs and drives fine, so got a bit lucky, but the head is making a tapping noise. Suspect something to do with the valve gear, its has rocker arms and suspect its to do with them
Whatabout a corsa VXR? Where is a good place to buy one of them new?

you will be bored of a VXR in no time
they are pretty nippy but very unrefined and drink fuel like no tomorrow
Ours was great and lost very little money with the discount we got but wouldn't have another one

Got bored of mine pretty quick. Wasn't very exciting, my Leon FR diesel felt quicker and hence is more enjoyable to drive

Has the head been inspected? They go porous. That and the cam can wear. Both seem common at about your mileage

Just got home and taken cam cover off and found two of the rocker arms missing the little roller wheels. Found half of each one so far, it also knocked the plastic bits off the injector plugs.

Should have weighed the shit in when you had a chance.

Yep, if i had part-ex'd it against the scirocco i looked at i would have saved about £2k+
oh well, would rather have a car with new parts and common faults fixed than buy something else and have to start fixing that.

I'd rather have the £2k.. You're doing this Bangernomics stuff all wrong.

If i had the scirocco i'd be about £13-15k down, plus i reckon that would be work on it within a year

Got shut of my Focus a few weeks back. Apart from the DPF clogging up a couple of times it was an amazing car. I run for 50k, had 60 odd on it when it went. Spent nothing on that car apart from 4 new tyres and a few oil changes.
5k would get you a decent one.
