Well this weeks issue proves that its 1.6 Turbo. A 2.0 Turbo Corsa is NOT practical.

That would be me.......but thats what i was told by the guy who was the designated overviewer of the design of the corsa C. I was just relaying what i believed to be true. And i still do.

Which is impressive. Top speed of around 140mph, and 0-60 time of around 7 seconds. A few choice mods will see this a lot quicker though i reckon. First impressions, the car looks gorgeous with twin square tailpipes, and lovely fat wheels. The arches are excellent, and really hint that this is the range topping Corsa.

I suspect that your power or torque figures are wrong

Vauxhall bulit a 2.0 turbo corsa c
Didnt anyone see it at pvs two years ago?
It wont be a GSi - the badge is being dropped in favor of the VXR branding.
And the new "performance corsa" will be released when the new facelift is due next year.

talking to someone who works for vauxhall (quite high up) and he told me that the UK will not be getting the Corsa GSi, down to the fact of the massive drop in sales for small performace cars and the flop off the Corsa C 1.8 SRi, they see the UK hasent got a market for them.

your right but the top dogs at GM dont see it like that
all they see if they are selling 1 x 1.8 SRi corsa to ever 1000 x smaller engine corsa, so they think well noone wants a high powered corsa C really so why bring out a bigger version, well will put all are money into the smaller corsas and pushing them on the market.

Totally and utterly wrong im sorry to say.
Speaking to kevin wale who is the VXR brand manager the vauxhall / opel performance market has seen a total shift.
opel have not found good fortune with "performance" over there... but in the uk its really took off.
The VXR brand is huge for Vauxhall the allocation of monaro's both normal and VXR varients sold out in weeks - the same for the Astra VXR as well the allocation is near enough gone.
Vauxhall is very focused on performance and the normal astra "base" cars are reported to be the best in class.
The huge increase in Vauxhall commerical sales has helped and now Vauxhall are number 1 in the UK - GM vauxhall's owners have taken notice and pumping real money into it to keep it there.
The Corsa Story.
Vauxhall in conjuction with OPC bulit both 2.0 turbo and 1.6 turbo units.
The 2.0 was not cost effective and standard it ran 13.7 seconds 1/4 mile.
The 1.6 was not far behind.
Vauxhall are being very very careful to get this right because all of the above good work could be undone.
The finished car is believed to have in the region of 180bhp whatever the displacement - to compete with its main rival the CLIO 192 due next year.
It will wipe the floor with the fiesta ST and nothing else HATCHBACK comes close to the clio at the moment in the SAME CLASS.
They are the facts

its the name, escort wouldn't be selling today if they still called escort.
corsa has been tarred with a boy racer brush so most people turn to the astra or elsewhere

There quite clearly is a market in the uk to compete with if every other manufacturer has a better top of the line model

Surely it would need in the region of 192bhp to compete, especially as Clios aren't exactly renowned for their heavy build?
