I used to work for Shell and yeah it works, but theres no point fillin up with it everytime, its a slightly higher octance but not really noticeable and it has cleaning agents that will in a way flush your engine a bit. I use it every 4 fill ups but then again I dont drive a high performance car lol.

i only really use optimax in my gsi and the difference from normal petrol is unreal

when i first got the pulsar it used to sometimes misfire on low boost
since i have been filling up with optimax and a bottle of octane boost the smoothness of the running is definitely noticeable and the misfire has totally gone. but then my car has run on jap fuel all its life
those that say u wont notice a difference straight away are right u need to use it a few times to get a result. try running a bottle of injector cleaner through the first time u use it aswell
for those that say it knackers your engine............. running on unleaded with all the bits of crap u can get in it can damage your engine too, so can not changing oil regularly or thrashing it from cold
i say go for it u will deffo notice a difference

wrong, the knock sensor will change the behaviour of the engine if using 98RON. it has to, thats how it works. Engine will run more efficiently, therefore increasing power marginally, depending on what car if you could notice though. Could notice in my 1.6 sport. Older style vauxhall engines like he old NZ's used RON plugs, and vauxhall produce 98RON plugs.

I always use optimax but I need the higher octane, haven't noticed any performance gains but the mpg is slightly better with optimax than it is with that bp ultimate hence always stick to max now

I personally think the performance gain things etc are bollox, it's all in the mind  I do believe it has better fuel consump that bp ultimate though and the higher octane is handy I'd just use normal unleaded in any 2.0 etc only use it for the higher octane which isnt needed in any usual engine
