True. I have to rag mine to get upto 70 on the motorway slip road. It also doesnt have much power for over taking. You have to drop back, look for a decent sized gap, drop a cog, nail it, and hope you dont hit a headwind

Also as daiashthomas said, i think it handles reasonably, but then ive never driven another car hard enough round corners to compare it.

At then end of the day there a good first car, as there quick enough to loose your license, are cheap to run and maintain, cheap insurance, you can make them look good, and are a respectable car.

suppose it is a lot different over there. here on the motorway the lack of power is no problem really coz it doesnt seem that bad from say 70-80mph

it is economical when you drive it sensibly.
when you redline it all the time, of course it consumes more.

Its double sided. Join the motorway during the day, adn you cant join at over 10 mph. Try joining after about 7ish, and you need to be moving "swiftly" to join

I personally think its slightly better to say "Its a 1.2", than "Its a 1 litre". You just have to hope they dont realise the 1.0's quicker

Dont think it is mate. Driving in urban areas you get shit consumption figures however you drive it. Believe me ive tried using optimax, 97 RON fuel, driving like a granny, and then just normal driving with the odd booting of the throttle, and none seem to make a difference on the 30-35MPG figure

Same mate. I usually get 250-300 if i let it touch the red. Problem is that I work 3miles from my house, and my collage is another half a mile away, so by the time im there, the engines only just warmed up. Im also driving though town and my village, so I can hardly expect it to be econimical

There was a post in the help & mod advice a while back, and it seems that most people with 1.2's who drive regularly in towns get the same MPG. Thing is even on the motorway i get the same fuel consumption, as you have to keep the throttle wide open to keep a steady 70-75 .

Like i said earlier im not looking forward to my trip to Newquay as its gonna cost me shitloads in fuel

yeah thats basically the same as me

my work is 5miles away school is about 2 and all urban which is a real bitch coz they have had road works on my stretch of road for about half a year now. Sometimes i just get fed up with them and go the long way which is about 5 extra mile but still get there quicker!

Yeah but for that 30 brake, youve gained another set of valves, another 3 injectors, spraying stright into the cylinders, Drive by wire throttle to improve fuel economy, and a much better mapped engine.

I think they proberbly are still economical, but it just seems you dont get much mileage for your £'s, when you consider the lack of power the engine has .

The handling is fucking awful on the standard suspension set up on the old Corsa's. My mate has got a 1.2 8v M Reg and its scary how much body roll you get going round minor bends slowly. Whereas my new shape Sxi handles fucking brilliant, but when you loose it you end up like me with both left wheels pushed under the bodywork
