LOL, I aint in no slagging match, the 1.4 8v sri is crap imo, hence why it was retired. How can you say the sport kicks in after 80mph? This is balls, the power kicks in individually through each gear high in the rev range.
please listen mate... a 82hp 8v will not be quicker than a 90hp 16v in any performance scenario's.
End of'

Sorry but there are bonuses to the 8v, like reliability etc.
Mines got some engine mods and will beat a 1.4 16v, end of.
I aint saying it's more tunable or better or anything, was just on about my specific car

The 8v is no way as tunable as the 16v... 130hp easily possible.
1.2 8v ... not even worth talking about

i got a 1.4 spi, with a K&N cone and cat-back zorst, its done 93k miles, and its never brocken down on me, it does 0-60mph in about 11secs, and dont quote me on that, and say i'm telling bs, because we timed it and it was also slighty going uphill, with a passenger.

1.2 8v, ok they are slow, but cheap insurance and fairly cheap 2 run, i have one for the reasons stated, obviously id like something faster, but its fine for a first car, as im 18 and insurance is wayy 2 much on anyfin faster. (prob get an engine conversion wen im 20/21 anyway)

thats why i got a 1.4spi because it was my first car at 18, i turned 19 in may, its only a grounp 3 or 4 and i pay £1500 fully comp with 6 ponits i got, with all my mods declared, so that aint bad.

I have a 1.2 8V, they aint quick to 60 but up to about 40ish they aint too bad, just not got the power in 3rd to pull up to 60 well.
They are cheap and realiable and insurance aint gonna be too bad, I have had cars in mine that should really be beating me, and I dont know if its down to the car or bad driving or whatever, but you can still take other cars in a 1.2 8V if you drive it right.
