As Cyber said above. IT is an X16XEL engine. It produces 100bhp, but, it gives more torque at a lower rpm compared to the X16XE.
I can't see how a mantel box wouldn't fit it though as its still gonna be pretty much the same inlet manifold below the top one. May need a little work though.

Im not so sure an inlet manifold will fit the XEL from an XE designed unit. The XEL has reduced power because of its inlet manifold design. In the heavier Astra too, the car struggles to keep up with my Corsa, since my mate has the XEL unit in his mk4 SXi

Mods
Mantzel inlet manifold. Lexmaul 4-2-1 Exhaust manifold. Cat back exhaust, Ind kit, Superchip, errrr. thats it.
Car was RR at 114bhp with ind kit and Cat back exhaust b4 mods and on the same RR.
U dont get that much torque from it, but then ur never gonna get a good amont from the 1600 engine. Even Andys H 214bhp 1.6 16v only has 145lb ft. Standard 2.0litre torque.
I think I've said this before but......
The rollers must read very high!
I've got 164bhp on some realistic rollers, with 130lb/ft.
C16XE, throttle bodies, dta, piper cams, verniers, ported head.....

The inlet manifold must fit else courtenay wouldn't have offered to fit it for him.

And i've explained before to you also.
Remus Exhaust = 109bhp (standard), superb power curve!
New exhaust, induction kit = 114bhp (different RR)< the Mantzel one
SAME RR, after mods = 161bhp @ 7500rpm
There is also a nova, currently for sale, Very similar spec, on the C16XE engine, that has 154bhp.

My previous mods: Gas-flowed and ported head, raised compression and rev limit, sbd manifold and straight through exhaust system, lumpy cams, mantzel powerbox all mapped with a Unichip ECU - 153bhp and 127lb/ft of torque
Have to agree with Miles that 161bhp seems a tad optimistic, especially when a full TB kit only just produces over 160bhp

Well, andy, i know what your saying and im optimistic about the results also. But we worked out and the worst is could be is 155bhp ((there was a method of working it out, but i've forgotten it now).
Don Fulfords Corsa GSi, Running on Manztel box, same superchip (was the earlier C16XE also, i still believe its the better for tuning). Only difference was it had Cams and that had 145bhp @ the wheels!!!!
Dons only got 117lb ft of torque though also!!
And, i have to say, when running, from say 40-100mph her car really isn't much slower than my 2.0litre. Its when we get up to about 100mph that my car carries on and hers doesn't pickup the speed as well.

The C16XE is slightly better for tuning, although I had the exhaust ports machined out on my X16XE, which makes the head pretty similar to a C16XE. 117lb/ft of torque seems a bit low, but then there's obviously a good spread of it. I'm sure it's kicking out over 150bhp, but over 160 would be amazing.
Don's 145bhp at wheels equates to getting on for 180bhp at the fly - that I absolutely don't believe!

nahh, i think it was running about 165 at the fly, he had 15"s when the power run was recorded. However, spoken to him this year, and i think he's going the TB route. He's one fo them people that has spent bloody ages taking his car apart and building it. Spent 6months making a complete original shaped carbon fibre dash. He knows he nuts
YEah as i say, at worst we cou,ld work out was 155bhp, so might be about that.
But tbh, shes not arsed anyway, it goes alright so shes happy with it
