FFS

Mk1 Punto 1.2 16v Sporting has 5 gears and is fast for a 1.2 16v, it will keep with VTR's.

Mk2 Punto Sporting 1.2 16v is slow, about the same speed as an SXi, maybe a little slower has 6 gears.

Mk1 Punto Sporting 1.6 8v was slower than 1.2 16v.

the reason there quicker is because they have got a different inlet manifold and bigger exhaust manifold than the standard 1.2.also the gearbox has got slightly different gear ratios so it seems quicker off the mark

I agree that for a 1.2 its a very quick car. Compared to a Ferrari etc of course its a slow car, but for what it is its a nippy motor
