You might get some compensation from them, you would have to bering a claim in negligence. However, assuming they have now done the repair, and you have suffered no actual loss, dont get your hopes up.

Try writing them a letter with a chronolgy of what happened, and setting out your grievances, and what you might do. for exapmle, take legal action, report them to professional body.

Did you lose any earnings? ask for them to give you compo to the vaule of your lost earnings or free services or something when you write to them. Outline how dangerous it was, especially as you had been on a long journey. They'll probably cough up. my mum got all the repairs on her leaking astra for free.

Dont forget if you've lost less than £5k you'll only be able to sue as a small claim which means you won't be able to recover your costs.

Yes I am familiar with the concept of free warranty, however 'Vauxhall' and 'fix' don't usually come under the same sentence!

You may be right, but it isn't funny. I could have had a serious accident.

I appreciate the seriousness of the situation, however I was only laughing at Vauxhall and their general ineptness, I was not laughing at your car problem.
