172's are nice motors, mates just had one and he loves it, they aint that taccy and id prefer one to a 106gti as they look a alot better in my opinion, but cant take nothing away from the 106 for performance, handling etc as they are top notch, but the 172 is nice too, dont blame ya for going for one mate, i wud prefer the cup model though

172s are well nice, went to the Btcc at Brands hatch a few weeks ago and renault had a stand there, had a good look round and sat in a brand new cup(the nice blue colour) i was VERY impressed lovely lookin car, great in standard form-nice wheels etc. If i wasnt in the process of buying my flat i would have been very tempted to have bought one. Obviously i cant say anything for the drive, but if it goes as good as it looks then game on.
Apparently(not sure if this is true) the 172 does 0-100 either 1 second slower or quicker(cant remember)than the cliov6?
Very nice cars though, build quality has come a long way since the days of my renault pmsl

the old clio V6 was not that much quicker than the mk1 clio 172 the mk2 is slower. the new clio V6 is significantly faster but still not worth the moeny they are asking. the cup is around 1.5s quicker to 100 than the normal 172

they don't really have many more 'in car' toys, they just have stuff like ABS, air con etc. 172 cup is a bargain brand new. a garage local to me sells them brand new delivery mileage for 10995.

although the st170 is not that impressive a car, are you still trying to tell me you would rather have a 5? if so, you are mad, there is so much more to a car than straight line speed. i know what I would rather be driving round in all day. a crappy old renault with a turbo bolted on or a smooth, quick, comfortable focus with all the toys. hmmmmm, let me think!

sat nav is NOT standard and the only come with half leather, same as the cup. i am with you though, would still prefer a sport over the cup, but the new price of a cup makes them too good to resist!

I actaully read an artical on the 3 Clios last night whilst waiting for my curry

The 172 normal hits 60 in 7.4
the 172 Cup hits 60 in 6.9

Both top out at 138mph.

The V6, now with more power, and 18"s, bits 60 in 6.3 and tops out at around 155mph. Max power is peaked at 7200rpm too
