ohms mate, resistance basically. Time to get out ya physics book
Personally mate, before you decide on ya final kit have a chat with a few people, audio specialists etc and then buy a book on ICE. Max power do one i believe then read it a few times. Then decide on shit lol Its what im doing, still deciding on head unit and ive been at that for about a month. Well the alpine head unit is the first thing, its mint and has good outputs especially the pre's which are 4v (?) - higher the better on the pre's btw.
The rest depends on what ya budget allows - personal opinion
And for the ohms....KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)....just stick to single coil subs @ 4ohms and a monoblock 4Ohm amp, cant go wrong with that However, if ya think ya can cope with ohms and shit then get a dual coil sub and either run it of a 4ohm amp or two 2ohm amps for it (im not 100% on this dual coil stuff, havnt really looked in to it personally).
Hope this helps

p.s - fuck money grabbing halfords, the place is a rip off and if i had an expensive system i wouldnt let em within a mile of it ! Take it to a audio specialist (recommended by people etc) and get em to sort it out. However, buy all of your gear either off the net or mail-order, it will be cheaper (usually).

yeah okay mate thanks again much appreciated.
I listed all the kit above i was going to get.
Do you think its a good combo and will they all work well together? im not into spending thousands just want something basic as well as decent, but im happy with that little lot ive found.
Im going to buy all the parts online, decide and fit what i can and then take it somewhere to be wired up properly, least if they fuck something up they have to pay for it.
cheers again

Yea it sounds all good mate
as i said the head unit is top notch (if ya getting the alpine) and rest is up to scratch. Ya aint gonna win contests or anything but it will be a nice little system to show ya mates and what not Its probably along the lines to what im getting, until funding allows for two 10" TDX10D2 diamond's and either viper audio or orion amps - and thats a few grand so.
Anyways mate, let us know how ya get on, especially the head unit since its what i was looking at

dunno mate. Pioneers are alright, but you will need to look up the actually head unit and see what it has etc.
To be honest mate, all your after is decent preouts - higher the voltage the better But if it sounds alright and the preouts aint too bad (i would say 2v is the absolute minimum) then go for it and spend the rest of the cash on a better sub/amp/wiring(!!!).
