I agree with andysri about the 15's and tuning, http://public.fotki.com/M4rks/favourite_cars/bics_throttle_bodied_106/
Like this one, i think this is the best 106 out there.

omg, ive seen 2 around my end, same 106 with same wheels on, is there sommat special about pug106 with massive toora's?
I know! Nik has them off here and there a a few in the gallery on pgac.Waste of the speed with 17's on IMO
I don't feel the GTi is any slower with the 17s personally. Each to their own but it handles a dam site better and feels a lot more stable.
Nice one

It will be slightly slower of course but nothing I've really noticed - beat my mates standard gti on 16s and I've only got an enclosed induction kit. Mines lowered 40ish at back too

The only 106 GTI i'd buy would be in china blue, lowered with 17" white compomotives.

Yes you'd have to be dreaming if you think a 106 GTi will over take a GT on the move

I agree a GT does not handle as well as standard but overtaking on a cornaer would mean going round the outside which would mean a lot more speed to overtake. I doubt it

yes but it's handling would enable it to carry enogh speed into the following corner, which is a left hander therefore meaning the gt now on the outside

I doubt it. the GTi does not have the torque. on the track on their own the GTi would be quicker depending on the actual track but a race would be different. then when you actaully sort the GT suspension cause FIAT don;t know damping or spring rates from their elbow you'll see how well the GT actually handles
