you dont have to take the manifold off, just unscrew the sensor. Its the only thing with wires going into it on the exhaust. They aint cheap though.

the sensor would make no difference unless the car was pussin 2 much fuel in to the engine which would make the engine sound shit and maybe a flame or 2! i thought there would just b some kind of fuel level sensor atatched 2 the ecu! so resettin it mite do sum gud! this is educated guesses so tell me if i'm wrong!

I disagree. Overfueling wouldn't make the engine sound any different, and you wont get flames with a cat.....

I had a W reg sport engine which had no fuel level sensor, and I cant see why the ecu would have any need for one. I also cant see how the ecu knowing how much fuel is in the tank could have any bearing on fuel consumption.

50 miles to £10, you must have a seriously tuned engine that is run flat out all the time, that or your seriously exagerating, or have a problem.

i got 90miles out of £12,
i had to drive 30/35mph in 5th gear tho.
(without labouring the engine).

most of my driving 40-60mph was done in 5th gear, never went over 4krpm.

changed gears at 2.5rpm.
and i squeeze every last mile out of my tank. the needle was pointing BELOW the red block on the fuel gauge at the petrol station.

I let the car warm up for 5 mins before driving it.

altho i must admit i spent most of my driving in traffic.

but is there something wrong??

people are managing to get 110miles including 'fun' driving!

i just tanked up yesterday (another tenner) and i'm gonna see if resetting the ecu has helped in any way. i've not put my foot down yet and i'll try not for the next few days. all my driving is going to be local.

i'll let u know how many miles i get.

Small engined corsas are poor with fuel economy as the engine is too small for the size of the shell in my opinion, my 1.0L LS is no better at fuel economy than any "normal" car Ive ever experienced, which is a sever disapointment

i'm just coming toward the end of my petrol. the petrol light has blinked once so far but has gone back off. i've been driving VERY sensibly only put my foot down properly once (that's because i had to over take!). still got a bit of petrol left cause i was stood at a traffic light and the road looked very level and my petrol needle shows just above the red mark.

Anyway so far i have got 82 miles out of a £10 and that's ALL local driving. the only problem is i don't know if it's my driving that's saved the petrol or resetting the ecu!??

will update the post when my petrol light stays on perminant. i should be able to squeeze another 2-3 miles out of it

Your probably were right Kerry, but i'm gonna put u to the test by filling up again (another £10) and driving 'normally' to see how many miles it gives

about 85 is roughly right, i used to get about 90- in my old 1.4 hi-torq

the golf though is ridiculous i get about 55-60 driving in & around town
