Got on with something that I have meant to do for a LONG time now. Time, Funds, Weather and Opportunity all lined up, so I managed to get it done!
So, on the second day of Ownership (back in Oct 2011), the VxON Club Banner fell against the car at the RR Day, and left a nasty little sharp crease/dent in the NSR Door, including damaging the bumpstrip a bit too. I managed to touch it in, not very well, and it's stayed like it since - this was the mark today;
I was working up in Scunthorpe last week, and whilst browsing eBay, found a couple of Scrapyards that I could visit on my drive back to Dorset, that had a handful of Star Silver doors in stock - I went to one near Lincoln, had a look and they had a door that was 90% good - a couple of light scratches in it that should polish up with a bit of effort - importantly though, it had no dents in it. I got it for £20 less than the eBay price, as that included Delivery, and I was physically there to take it on with me. Nice little bonus. It got chucked in the back of the Mazda, and rattled about for a few hours whilst I drove home.
Got it in the garage ready for today;
One downside to this door though - it was a Manual Window version - granted the Door skin and Glass is identical to an Electric model, it just meant I had a little bit more work to do to swap it over...
Anyway, I stripped my original door down - removing the Doorcard, Speaker, Switchgear, Wiring Loom, Chrome/Seal trim (as it had no Green gank in the seal unlike the Donor door), Gloss Pillar trims and eventually the Electric winder mechanism itself.
Once it was all off and I had a bare door, I removed it from the hinges and chucked it in the garage ready to strip down a little further later (Lock Mech, Handle Mech, Rubber Seals etc)
I then fit the replacement Door, and got on with stripping it all down - everything bar the Locking Mech, Rubber Seals & Handle Mech was coming off to be replaced - lots of crap;
I then rebuilt the replacement door, completing the conversion to an Electric winder, and all is now good.
It then got a quick wash/wipe down and looks fine - just a couple of little marks to address. Nothing major though

I decided not to put it through the club books.
We discussed it at the time it happened, but it's been 3 years. It's cost less than £50, so I'm not fussed.

Problems.
Something on the front end suspension setup has gone pop.
A noticeable clunking/rattling from somewhere.
I hope it isn't something to do with the replacement parts from the MOT...
Typical. Can't even start to look at it until the end of the month at the earliest either.

I am on DAPs, but they are not the recent ones which seem to be shite.
I hope it's something that simple though. Easy fix then.
Even a failed bush would be welcome, means I can justify an upgrade to Powerflex then...

Does it over ruts, potholes, bumps etc.
Sure I heard a clunk/crack noise on full lock (left) too.
Also, can hear a rattle/clunk when quickly adjusting the steering left/right whilst moving.
Maybe a Spring/Top Mount?
Maybe the lower Ball Joint on my replacement arm? (bloody nope not)
ARB bushings?
No idea. Best for me to get it off the ground, and my head in there. Might just whip the front Struts off too to check the assemblies over.

Get this man a cookie.
My weekend trip to Qatar was cancelled, so once I got home from Scunthorpe at lunch time today, I managed to get a look at things.
So, first thing I noticed was that when steering lock-to-lock in the air, I only had a Clunk steering left, probably 2/3 left lock. The problem was NSF, so that's where I looked.
I then noticed that the Droplink was fitted upside-down/180deg out. A kink to clear the IDS Module on the Shock was wrong;
Which, when turning the wheels, resulted in this;
https://youtu.be/-Ge0mN_vrOY
Couple that with a slightly loose bolt not clamping it to the upper mount quite tightly enough.
Bloody Garage!
Swapped it over to how it should have been done.
It's now fine. No more noise. Free fix!

Nothing new, just carboned up now. Deeper tones have returned, pops, bangs and burbles on overrun a lot more now.
