Na but he works for BMW. For a small thing like that it's pointless though because he has to post it, on big orders like mine he's saved me loads and it's well worth the postage plus a bit for him, he's the man!

And just a flat for now, no house yet

I said to him about a couple of weeks will it be ready? And he reacted in a way as if it was easily going to be done so we'll see.

He said the company doing the head are just waiting for the valves before starting the main work but from what I gather I think they've already done the valve clearances? As I asked how he knew what shim I needed to order and he said I only needed 1, so maybe valve clearances weren't out like I thought, maybe I measured them wrong. I won't know properly until I get it back. This company are also measuring up the pistons I bought to check they measure up alright to be used as they have some pretty high tech equipment apparently, fingers crossed big time on that one otherwise I don't know what to do.

But the head should be built up complete by end of next week so all he'll have to do is bolt it down. He's stripping the front end off to remove the block and to make putting the engine back in easier, he didn't want to strip it down until it was ready to be worked in or there would be bits everywhere which is understandable.
Then the bottom end is stripping down the damaged piston removed, bore honed, shells all replaced and ARP bolts and built back up and put back in the car as 1 unit I believe.

And hopefully it'll be back stronger and hopefully quicker, but we'll see, I am going to get it dyno'd again

Well yeah I suppose, but it's a hobby I have no other real interests, people like fishing I like cars It's not that bad to be honest I buy alot of parts by selling other parts. Got to be a bit more careful now I have rent to pay!

Plus with bits like this, when I sell the car I can sell these wheels on again, same with most mods really. So it's a temporary investment

Like you couldn't do it

I'd say that's my only gripe with this car, things are £1-200 anymore they're £5-600 Inspection 2 & brakes needed soon. Pads are £290 and discs about £500, ouch

That's fair mate. Congrats on the baby! I'm not man enough for that yet even though I'm not getting any younger! I would like a sunny holiday this year, but trackdays have kind of taken over as usual....!

i dont care for this kids nonsense either, dont care what anyone says they do affect what you can do, look at ojc, carted all those kids over there, ridiculous, cant even do any laps, whats the point, may aswell just go raving in Zante

If you are in a position where you can leave the kids at home though then fairplay

Do it Steve, need to get it booked up soon though cause there aren't many spaces left. I'm going with my mate in his Astra VXR.

And kids are all part of growing up Steve, I'll do the M3 now cause I won't be able to do it after!

Couldn't agree more, exactly what I am doing. I'll always have a car to tinker with, I think a more dedicated E36 track car is next.
