He clearly wanted to google your bike to see if you have better pedels than you.
In other biking news, I just bought a lizard skin rear shock cover to protect it from dust/mud.

Ben - how wide are your bars? Mine are 760mm and I fit through fine..
Errrrm....?
I've got a bog standard 2012 Cube Ltd Race. Whatever that comes with. They feel wide to me tho.
According to a bikeradar review the are 660mm so you'd be fine at Cannock.

Legs are aching today after race at cannock yesterday, was only 3 miles laps but it was a tough course, nowhere to rest. Good fun though, bit of a kick up the arse to sort fitness out!

I really want to get my first mountain bike race under my belt.
Was going to do one of the Gorrick races but had already booked a local club reliability trial on the date of the last one and then next one is this weekend but I am moving house on 7th March and need to pack so no time.
When you do these races Simon do you worry about final position or do you set your self a time to beat or are you not fussed about it at all?

I don't worry about it, my fitness is nowhere near the level of the guys who regularly race, plus I don't normally have the most sensible bike for races either. For example yesterday's race my quickest lap was 22mins. In my category the quickest were doing 18mins. In the elite category they were doing 15min laps! I more do them just because they are good fun and often you get to ride areas / trails not normally accessible. Plus I'm not about to start wearing lycra.

Maybe thats the attitude I need to go with. Im quite competitive so if I was to come last I would be pissed off with myself
I already wear Lycra so not an issue for me. I may enter the Gorrick race on 24th March, just the fun category and see how I get on.

I found the London to Brighton Strava Segment this morning.

No point aiming for second best
I'm not sure how to play that one, would like to get as good as time as poss but guy I signed up with who I ride with sometimes isn't the fastest, due to the length of it I was imagining sticking together. He came 3rd from last yesterday

None of my real life friends are doing it so I am not really tied to anyone.
Ive done a couple of sportives alone and the ride itself is fine, its at the start and finish that its a bit shit, no real social aspect and god forbid I should have to talk to a stranger.

The last climb on that strava segment is ditching beacon absolute killer. I've got a charity race from there a week Sunday it's a team event 20miles 1st full team to finish wins not trained for it whatsoever so I expect it will take me about 4hrs top team will do it in about 1hr45ish
