ready to weld.........although i didn't.

weld plate and mount together

add some gussets/triangle bits in for added strength on the job

paint the new 7 bolt rear mount in satin black, for that oem look. skilfully painted by richard "(citroen) picasso" bell.

put a bolt in that part of the linkage instead of the usual pin thing.

attach it all back together.

make a nice gearbox oil filling system involving a funnel, a pice of pipe and a 10mil socket. only because some berk, well, me, had put the boost pipe back on before filling it with oil. clever.

re-attach the smart breather filter to the gearbox. posh modification that.

broken front spring

non broken borrowed springs. 250lb ones, be right for now tbh. will get some 300's when i get round to it. one of the bearings, driver side in the adjustable top mounts needs changing soon really. will get one ordered off rally design.

acquired some avon slicks. 2 new, 3 part worn for a decent price. will use them on the local strip saves killing more expensive tyres on that surface. they're not full massive wrinkle wall slicks, so will have to see how i get on with them.

so that was all going well. all finished. gear linkage to do. this took hours. had no reverse. checked the box, checked the linkage and basically either santa pod has killed the linkage as in bent it, or this box is slightly different in tolerances for the gears. bent part of the s shaped linkage to allow it enough movement to get to reverse. all other gears were fine. trial and error, trial and error, trial and error. very annoying. finally, got all gears and reverse. winner.

quick drive up the road..............

crunches into 2nd and 3rd. brilliant stuff.

oh forgot to mention the plastic knuckle bits that go onto the s shape bit, held in the cir clips, road test killed one of them also. need to remove part of linkage and swap it over with another one when i get one. brilliant weekend I've had. seriously.

The rac do......but I don't know. I've been stopped before but that was for a flickering brake light, didn't mention any issues with the towing method.

There not classed as dollys. Seen as a trailer as the car isnt running on all its own wheels. Used to use one the same as the rac ones at my old work.

All 5 are about the price of 1 r888 so kinda got them to use on our local strip as the surface ruins softish road legal tyres a bit. Don't think I will do another track day until next year. Getting too expensive.

weirdo.

well tomorrow night I'm gonna fix the bush in the linkage if the world isn't still flooding up here and then take it for a proper run out. slightly miffed that the box crunches after a good few hours work, not really what you want to hear at the end of the job. luckily it came with a guarantee of sorts. need to text my mate the bad news and start looking for gearbox number 7.

2nd gear synchro in this box is crunchy, 3rd is fine. May try adjusting clutch a touch but it's not going to help. Damn f28s.

What could your next move be gearbox wise apart from an F28?
