When i was in my mates DC2 i heard VTEC kick in and felt the faintest of changes in the power. Not much but theyr was a tad theyr. And after looking at the speedo, its didnt climb any quicker.

Its maybe noticeable more on a graph, but certainly aint as much on the road.

P.S i aint slating DC2s in the slightest,i would abs love 1 and after being in mentioned DC2 i was very impressed at the way it handles.

But power wise,id rather have the XE delivery and powerband.

hence when buying an ecu for a vtec they tend to lower where the vtec comes in, and for a normal engine the ecu's tend to enable you to raise the rev limit.

ive driven a dc2 that had a spoon ecu, vtec came in between 4.5 ad 5k all the way to 9k. now im ot sure what rpm a xe corsa makes peak power and some ,depending on mods, may be different but i reckon with vtec from 5 to 9k would be a very good match to an xe regardless of what rpm the xe is at.

i agree with what your saying but drive the vtec right and an xe wouldnt touch one

I was under the impression u can drive a VTEC just like any other car.Keep it over 6k or whatever and its fine.Problem with that tho is select the wrong gear and your fuked Keep an XE in 4th or 5th and floor it and itl pull like mad.I proved that to my mate when he tried to pass me in his DC2.On the dual carriageway,he pulls out trying to pass me with the advantage of being in tec trying the old creep up manouvre,i drop from 5th to 4th,foot to the floor and b4 the front end of his car was beside me i had matched his speed and started pulling away.Done it 3 times and everytime he got the shock of his life.

It'll be MUCH quicker than that But I have to agree with Nik, an XE will be even, or slightly quicker than a DC2. A standard engine is usually about 150-155bhp on an XE, and most I've seen have about 150lb/ft torque so they are pretty damn quick! And pull well in any gear, considering another

Yes but not the type that would give the DC2 an advantage.

well a work collegue reckons (and he's a pretty good driver) that his impreza rb5 which has been set up by prodrive and handles very well coudlnt keep up with his mates dc2 on some round abouts and that's comparing a genuine 300bhp impreza which handles to a dc2 teg so I doubt a corsa would have a chance tbh
