Cheers. Yea definitely mate, its been the best thing I've done with my time in ages. I wake up and think what can I do today , its crazy how much you learn when you get stuck in. Before doing this I'd never really worked with engines and I was a bit worried, but my dad and people I've met while doing have helped me a lot along the way including members on here, if it wasn't for them it would still have a 1.0 in the bay! Its been a great experience I must say

[/gay] , you've cleared so much things up for me and pointed me in the direction so much its unbelievable, you were probably thinking to yourself why am I even doing this you've been a massive help, even when you've told me off , your a star [/gay]

And no , timing belt and stuff hasn't showed up yet and I don't want to fit the engine until there on as you know its much easier while the engine is out

Yea I enjoy the cleaning and painting too, its nice when you step back and take a look at how much better it looks

Still not getting any closer to getting the engine fitted as the parts still haven't turned up , will be giving them a ring tomorrow.

Decided I'd see if I could make the paint on the rocker look a bit better as there was no shine to it, got some 2000 wet and dry and flatted it back then got the buffer and some cutting compound, came out pretty if I do say so myself

Before, can just about see my reflection over it.

After, shining much better , I made a mistake though with not using high build primer in the prep work stage as there's some marks showing through. Not bad a first timer though

I've got a black bag over it atm, I might just leave it like that until everything is done and then bolt it on. I should've waited but I'm too impatient

Must say that cutting compound really brought up the rockercover real well! I just bought a 2000 White 1600 sport there on Sunday with no mot (I'll get a project thread created in the next few days) Body works abit rough but what can u expect for 320 quid wit a full tank of fuel! Went and priced parts today for servicing realised I can save £50 by buying from autovaux.co.uk!! Head gasket went on the way home from picking it up but autovaux dnt seem to have x16xe cylinder head kits :/ anywer else u know? Also I'm gona need to sort this head out now you know anywhere good for this local (Lisburn/Belfast) ??

It did yea mate, I was actually surprised at how good it brought it up! I'm well pleased with it now.

Nice one mate, did you buy that from a lad in Belfast? My mate was selling one, don't know if hes sold it yet or not though, but it was a white 1600, great price you got it for too

Autovaux are good for saving a few quid, I bought all my bits from them as it was working out cheaper. Thats a bloody shitter about the HG though I don't know who would be best to try, the lad who commented above you (AW06) would be able to tell you though

As for the head skimming, have you heard of Peter Taylor? Him and his brother do all that stuff, hes a few mins away from Sprucefield. Can get his number for you if you want.

And if you need someone to change the HG for you my mate will be able to do it for you

Or even grahamengineering to get the head skimmed, I've heard there prices aren't to bad but I have no experience with any as I've never had to get a head skimmed There based in Lurgan.

I got it up in Cookstown my cousin works for a local paint shop so he can get me the car tidied cheap enuf no mate never heard of them? They near sprucefield umm I go through sprucefield every day goin to tech. Hah. Yea I decided to go for sumthing different I think with the x16xe instead of the usual c20xe :/ so timing belt kit plugs filters gaskets water pump etc to be changed. Only thing I won't be touching is the timing belt nd hg. Wouldn't wana fuck them up haha.
