Considering building up a new fixed gear to commute on but can't find a tidy frame cheap, best seems to be a dolan precursa for £200 or seen a dogma replica on ebay for £306 for a new roadie build but bloke has fuck all feedback so it'll probably fall apart

Just a frame you're after? Planet X/On one seem to have cheap frames.

Yeah I have looked at those but to get the forks, headset, seatpost and bottom bracket will bring it up plus I need a chainset as the one I have won't come off the broken frame

Well bit the bullet and went and got me a bike today weighed it up and went for a mtb over the road bike due to the fact i have a lot of freinds that ride trails etc as i live within a mile of the south downs it made sense.
This is what i decided on in the end http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-53-2012-id_8206682.html
I had read the reviews on bike radar and they had rated it higher than the equivalent specialized which was £200 more than this.
So got it home tonight and took it for a ride only did 4 miles which consisted of a 2 mile point to point of which the last half mile is all incline and a very very steep one at that i used to be able to ride it all in one hit (18yrs ago and 6 stone lighter lol). Eventually i would like this to turn into an approx 8 mile loop of which half is road and half cross country.
One other thing i was totally fucked when i got home what do you guys do to recover?

I always take a bottle of water, over 8miles you shouldn't really need it though but always good to have. Haha padded shorts are a must

Only been out on my road bike twice since I got it! It scares me tbh
I went out for a ride on my gsxr600srad 9 weeks ago and spent 4 weeks in hospital with a shattered knee, broken thema, broken shoulder, internal bleeding, bruised lung, basicly nearly dead. was air lifted to hospital because of the bleeding which they fed me 15 pints of blood for,but on the mend and am walking
Still love bikes tho and to all you bikers on corsasport watch out for vauxhall vivaro,s as they f*cking hurt, ride safe friends.

Depends how much cycling you do! It's the same distance to my work and when I've done it it's taken me about 45-50 minutes.

i do no cycling, i dont have a bike. but doing 150 miles a week just to and from work, would be good to save myself some money, google reckons it costs me £5.58 a day in fuel (plus vehicle wear)

Depending on bike/fitness easy done in just over an hour, with fitness and a road bike 50mins ish, possibly quicker. It's 15miles to my work but not sure I could be arsed to do it every morning and back home

I would do it but I find it a pain in the ass when I wear a suit and theres no lockers or anywhere to get changed/showered in work, fucking gay. Used to ride in on nights but then you could get away with looking like a scruff

I actually wanted the model below it, but I couldn't find one in my size. The race model was a bit too expensive. Got a load a freebies thrown in too. R540 pedals, R087 shoes etc.

You can get cheaper dedicated GPS things off ebay, like this http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/navin-minihomer-mini-review-16-gps-and-strava-content
Then just upload the file to strava
