I was wondering that last night as I was riding along, I guess modern bikes have better components but the down side of that is requiring more maintenance which eventually gets neglected.
I'd love a nice new bike but I am far to stingy to go and pay a load of money for one

Did the 100 for the week. Still feel very unfit as I should really be able to ride it no problem instead of aches and pains like I've got ffs.

What ways can I make my bike lighter, without spending a fortune? It's a full carbon frame, I've looked into carbon wheels but they're about £600 for a pair because I've got disc brakes! It's a Planet X XLS 105 if that makes any difference!
