in its final minutes....started it up for the first time in a couple of years, ran alright as well.

made a removable headlamp panel

spax coil overs on the front. rear is gmax.

equal length shafts, split cv boot but still better than corsa ones with cavalier cv's.

pond being created on the roof

remove the useful bit

dead. thankfully.

different way of the engine mount being done?

collection of parts

FULL POWERFLOW SYSTEM

one dead swamp donkey.

hopefully get the strengthening plates done on the red one tomorrow night and try and get the engine in. not going to get time to fit some tb;s to it by the weekend, although hopefully still get the dta on it and map it on the std inlet see what it makes.

aint bad considering its been sat for a while. just a touch tappety which sounds like most xe's anyway pmsl. didnt realise until we were taking stuff off ready to remove it that the brake servo pipe wasnt connected as it was hunting around when it was running.

I didn't think there is such thing as coilpack coscast head?

Anyway, I kinda like that engine mount, looks neat. Are you going to keep the power steering?

coilpac coscasts are supposedly the best ones to have, the castings are different on a coscast where the heat sheild bolts too, you can tell from the pics just. unless its just dirty and looks like that. im sure nic will reveal when he gets a propper look

car up on the lift

g-max rear shocks and lowering springs fitted. the rear shocks were just std ones previously with lowering springs fitted.

one of the new wheels on.

front 16v brakes and spax coilovers fitted. the front again was just std shocks, however instead of lowering springs, they had just been cut. nice, very nice.

johnny welding in the strengthening plates. front panel needed a bit of patching up.

engine ready and waiting

in it goes

and mounted, and also front panel painted.

turns out matthew172 from cumbria was correct. it is a coscast head. first dispack one ive ever seen so thats an added bonus from the swamp donkey.

tomorrows list of stuff

tie bars and bottom arms to fit
exhaust to fit
front wheels are getting my old mickey thomson et streets fitted
track rod end to change
water pipes to fit
inlet ecotec plate to re-make into a 3 inch one then inlet pipe to suit
brakes to bleed
make a loom for dta from scratch
oil change, coolant to put in, pas fluid and gearbox oil to fill up.
put it on the dyno and map it.

hopefully thats all there is to do then drag race it on saturday, if the weather is any good.

favourite dip stick mod

salvage some parts from an xe loom

start making a dta loom

trying to keep loom looking like a standard one.

re-manufactured top hat device

job finished

change the oil, then try to map it at 3:30am but radiator decided to expire, so set about fixinf radiator with some plastic stuff that needs to set to go off. left it until the morning. car was mapped earlier today, it made 167bhp but it has a couple of problems with the exhaust. the manifold itself has been smashed off the floor so was a bit squashed, but also the bore of the exhaust is only 1 3/4" which isnt big enough, so it made peak power at 4800rpm ish. which is fair low for a 20xe. changing at 5500rpm it ran a 15.1 1/4mile at 90mph. i havent got a copy of the graph sadly, but as soon as it gets to around 4800, the power just drops right off. shame, but easy to sort really.

car ran all day faultlessly, which aint bad for an engine been sat in a field for 2-3 years and never ran. throttle bodies next, and sort a better exhaust manifold and system out.
