made a start on chopping and tidying the car loom in my corsa. removing all the wires that dont need to be there anymore.

bit better

green tea looks like a cup of piss.

so ended up with that lot which i weighed on the scales as i knew some elite people would be interested in the results. 0.7kg in total. by the time i have finished with the dash part it think i will be 2kg lighter.

need to get hold of some of them sticky pads with zip ties built in to secure it down.

0.7kg in that lot. the abs wiring was probably the heavier stuff, thicker black wires in one of the pics above.

fair bit to sort through in that lot. most of it is the abortion of a wiring job that was done back when the clifford alarm was fitted in the 90s ffs.

burried, forgotten about was one of them inlet air temp things that sell on ebay. forgot it was even wired up.

got that far then struck disaster

it would appear all them years ago when i put the steering wheel back on, i put it on wrong. cant get the removal tool in as the horn wire, red one, is coming through th wrong hole. them plastic pegs go in the round holes, not the elongated ones. great.

so left it for now. try remove the wheel later and the dash i hope.

Plonker, nothing worst than pulling a steering wheel off that just doesn't want to come off! Best thing I ever bought was a removal tool

I was asking how much weight you had lost, not your car.

success with a hammer and steering wheel was removed.

dashboard out

door cards off to remove loom from the doors as well.

pretending i have a clue what i am doing.

my mate ste found this burned wire. traced it all the way back from the indicator stalk to under the bonnet of the car. probably shorted out when the loom got burned on the turbo manifold couple of years ago.

this evenings chopping. still a bit more to do, and then stuff to tidy and re-wrap.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180959168673?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

ordered up a new steering wheel so i can go drifting.

I love taking uneeded wires out of cars, always feel very satisfied afterwards for some reason

its bloody frustrating tracing things back. still got the whole of the passenger side footwell stuff to sort out. sadly a lot of it is the alarm wiring so that cant get touched.

Might aswell take heater matrix out whilst your at it? Heaters are for pussys anyway... Just get a heater that plugs into the cigarette lighter incase steamy windows get to much I was surprised how heavy mine was

I'm thinking about that at the moment but I use the car a lot all year round so probably not be ideal. Reminded me actually to search for heated screen for it see how much they are.

Mostly just chopping out the wires for things I don't need rather than the weigh aspect of it, but I will be over 3kg lighter in the car now i would guess. May take heaters out.....

That's the only thing that makes me consider it is its not my only car so I'd not have to suffer, I'd choose to suffer pmsl. Yeah weigh it if you could Sean and let me know. Might make the decision for me.
