Rumours going round are we had either a £13m or £15m bid turned down for Barry, and Villa want either £18m or £20m.

We've also only been offered around £14.5m for Alonso.

Now IMO if we dont make atleast £2-3m from the deal then Barry is a step down.

I think we need to swallow alonso out and barry in regardless, that's obviously what's going to happen and I think Barry could do really well with us. Watch him for england with a better bunch of players around him and he steps it up, he could be an excellent signing imo.

I dont disagree he'd be a good player for us, but he isnt worth a penny over £15m (if that imo) and Alonso is worth more than £14.5m.

And considering we need the money to buy other players (if you believe the papers) I'd rather we kept Alonso and used the extra money it seems like it will cost to buy Barry on player in positions we do need.

I agree we should defo not be losing money in the process, down to how much hardball we can play with Juve I suppose as AV don't even wana sell Barry.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see about how much money we have got to spend, I am not too positive about it given how much talk there has been of trading players out to get money. Be a shame if we don't get another striker and a RMF over the summer (if Dossena is a done deal),

Not yet hes not. Should he prove himself at a bigger club such as yourselfs then he may warrant a £20m one day.

Aston Villa believe he has that potential. So Liverpool are going to have to meet them half way.

Barry will most likely sell for 17-18 million like Hargreaves and Carrick did, the usual over-pricing of english players

But then again, if united wanted barry he would probably cost us 20-22 million down to the "oh it's Manchester United lets up the price by 4-5million"
