large multi plugs in the footwell

chopped out

all soldered together instead with all the stuff removed now from the loom apart from 3 wires that i found before that dont go anywhere. just need to tape the loom up, mount it back onto the body of the car and run it where i want it to go. lovely job.

got the loom and power cable secured down through the car now. finished the wiring just need to wrap and direct some of it but i need the dash in to do that.

started to chop the new black dash to make it fit.

light weight indeed.

football is on so will try and get the dash back in after that.

got the dash back in. hadnt trimmed one side enough to clear the cage so had to remove it to chop more off.

fitted the new wheel. it does sit closer to the driver than the std one, but its not as much as id have thought. maybe an inch closer. will need to drive the car to see what its like and if i will keep it or not.

so with the dash in, i can now finish off wrapping the loom and running it where i want to. easy to have the dash in so ive got an idea where things go, and got something to attach it to as well. hopefully get some more done one night in the week. not sure where to mount the ecu now either. previously was in the glovebox.

It's just time consuming more than anything. Still got to run a loom for the gauges as I've just remembered I chopped it out as it was a shambles, although I may change the volt and oil pressure gauges to stack stack stack ones so might just leave it for now.

Quite impressive when you think there's not much in a Corsa anyway! The sound wiring (speakers, sub & control module plugs) weighs 3.8kgs alone in an E46 M3

It's quite mad when you think it's only wires but some if them are a good few metres long each. I've still got the doors to chop out as well so there will be maybe another 5-10kg in that plus weight saved from removing the windows and windy mechanism will be a fair bit also.

I cant believe you cut all those wires on the big multi plugs. You could of just taken them all apart and moved everything into one so its still seperate looms but less of it.

how you mean? some wires were joined between the plugs on each loom?

On these..................

You could of pulled the plugs out of the housings that mount to the sill. From there there are 2 slides that hold each electrical terminal in place.

You could of removed all the terminals, binned what you didnt need then put what you wanted back in all in one plug instead of having 2/3 of them.

id have to re-pin it all though? plus where the plug sits is in an awkward place due to the cage, thats actually why i did it so the plugs in general were not there. looked a bit dodgy in the footwell you see. i had one side of the footwell cover badly zip tied over it.

True, but if you ever need to do a loom repair now you have to either do it in situe or remove the whole lot. Im keeping mine in seperate bits so if something needs to be removed its easy to do so
