Bit pointless buying the airbox if you don't get it mapped!
Lots Eck lol. To be fair it wasn't that bad, quite alot of labour and parts were most of the cost. But I now have a rebuilt engine that should be good for a long time to come

I suppose it wasn't what you were expecting to happen only a few months after buying it lol. You could probably have bought a genuine csl with all the cash you've spent lol. Like you say tho the engine should now be pretty bullet proof as its basically new.

Nobody expects it on any car tbh whether it be a 1k car or a 25k car
And I'm still way off what a CSL costs, and that's for a standard car...mine has way more mods than any CSL I've seen for sale plus spending gradually over months is different to having the cash in your hand. If I had 25k I wouldn't have bought a CSL, I'd still do what I've done or bought a nice road car and kept it standard
....but standard is boring

Weren't that much...I wanted the CSL box really but at 3k+ and they rarely come up, I just couldn't really justify that although the resale value would be exactly the same...but this is the better option as because it has to be mapped it when it comes to selling I would have to sell with the airbox, bit annoying but I can adjust the price accordingly if I wanted to attempt to recuperate any money. But that's a long way off yet as I am back in love with the car.

Its basically a csl rep airbox. Removed the maf so hense the need for mapping... I personally couldn't justify £1500 all in for an airbox no matter how stunning it is...
The sound they make is immense too and they are very cheap compared to actual csl and even the evolve reps..
Apparently give 10+ BHP but for that amount of cash id spend another few k and get a supercharger

The exhaust I can understand as it'll be quite a big piece of kit, plus the miltek on my old Astra was £1300
But £1500 for a bit of carbon which makes the car sound nice and then the extra money on top to have it mapped would break my heart graham must be one of those secret lottery winners lol.

No no the airbox he has is around £1k then the £500 for mapping... They all go mad for them on m3cutters tbh so they must be decent.
I agree though its too much for me..
I once seen a thread where they were calling £800 coilovers budget rofl everything has a huge ///M tax

Changes the whole drivability of the car, sort of taking the point out of the car BMW intended, a high power N/A engine with great drivability, and as I don't drive the car to 100% of what it's capable of its also a bit pointless unless you're into straight line speed until I learn to do so and then maybe you could consider it. I'd like to go in one to see what it feels like, but it's about 5k maybe more for the kits I've seen, so alot of dough in one go

That's the idea. If you cut corners it will bite you in the arse at some point. I like to think this car has most corners covered now & the cost now is maintenance & consumables mostly from here on in.

Fuck that, after an engine rebuild most people would be skint, but no go and spend 1500 quid on an airbox haha, Deffo in the money to burn category, if you have it why not!

Nice work Graham, is that a Graham Goode Racing one? A mate of mine had a Carbon Airbox and Alpha N conversion done to his E36 and it sounded so good. Said it drove much better for it too so I reckon its worth the dollars.
Who do you reckon you will use to do that work? I hope not Evolve

I had no car, so I have only had 2-3 days off work in 2 months, I'm allowed to splash out lol. I am lucky to have a good job!

Geoff Steel Racing mate. I've been told it will make quite a difference, and the sound should be awesome :-)
And yeah Evolve, they're doing some great stuff to cars all over the world and their maps are actually custom, Broster had his M5 and he rates them as well! You had problems with them?
