it would do as a start yes but don't try to do anything to aggressive will be fine as xc bike and singletrack but jumps etc would be out of the question oh and if you can live with mechanical disc brakes look up the btwin rockrider 5.3 from decathlon its only 330 its what I started on only thing is it is a 26" wheel compared to the 27.5 its spec is of the same quality sram x5 gears I rode that around Cannock chase and my local trails for a year and its still going now as a singlespeed

Well the avids are bled up and working now. Wasn't actually that hard at all. I mustn't have got all the old fluid out the first go.

brakes worked great today. allegedly avids are impossible to bleed up, well that guy was talking trash as they were quite simple.
had a decent ride out round grizedale forest on a bridleway loop with jumbo the barbarian. did a section called the fox dh which is kinda a 4x4 track really. good fun, as usual it looks tame and flat in the video. will upload that in a minute. lovely weather today, really quite warm.

Rode some great natural trails around Ladybower today, not a long ride but some really nice descents.
Rode for the first time the shock I serviced and nitrogen charged, it was sweet, even if I do say so myself, very plush but engage pro pedal and it sat up nicely in its travel. Very, very happy with the whole feel of it. I even shocked myself.

Less of the Jumbo you, you cunt.
Was a great day out, stumbled into some random race, met some nobbers on electric bikes, met some people on super cool off road segway things and scared myself fucking shitless
I can now get all pissy and high and mighty now with my work mates about riding shitty trail center stuff, and come out with nobber comments like "that's not real MTB'ing" and "when I go out with my pro riding mates off piste" etc etc. Can't wait to get called a wanker and so on....
:edit: my video will be ready sometime tomorrow cause I live in the middle of nowhere and tinterweb is as slow as me up hills.

I need to select a bike from here http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk/Default.aspx
My road bike was stolen, but I fancy a MTB to try some trail riding over summer as it's replacement. Have around £400-500 to play with.

had another mad day at bike park lakes today. really warm and some awkward climbs including a hike a bike. the views are bloody stunning up the tops of the mountains. one of the descents was really verging on being out of my comfort zone, had to actually walk down some bits as i don't have the skill/balance to ride it. still, real good fun and I'm getting better/fitter all the time. full blown playground for bikes round here just never knew it existed.
