Got it back in once piece, even managed to get up my drive without having to take the bumper off. Forgot what it was like to drive a noisey, bumpy, fast car - body and mind is in abit of a shock. Who wants a fucking race.
Many thanks to magical fingers Lee as usual, I'm forever in his debt which I'll try to pay off with illegal downloads and teaching him how to use bittorrent.

few laps of coombe in the astra, including a comedy spin and Mr john cleland muscling his way past
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_63h8Jgz75g
really enjoyed my passenger laps, cheers willay car seemed to go well, but then the throttle pot shifted slightly and as we didnt have any laptop with us it only did one session, shame but at least it did one!

Na, it was all in control, I didn't want to fly past him so I just waited until he had come to rest then overtook.

I had some tapping and knocking from my Z18xe engine in my Vectra B and after much investigation into the cause of the low oil pressure it turned out to be the oil filter housing after a tip off from a Vauxhall garage techy...........apparently the cannister type oil filters have no internal valve as per the screw on type and once this fails on the housing it is only a matter of time before it goes pop. Housing replaced £45 off the top of my head..........may have been cheaper, and the oil pressure returned. Before that it had belts, tensioners, water pump and oil pump replaced and a service to no avail.
Hope that helps others who get stuck with a rattly z18xe engine. My bottom end was stripped too just to check all was okay and was given a clean bill of health. Good job I stopped driving it when I did

the engine runs a spin on filter, i removed the canister type when we did the conversion to fit an oil cooler take off, you have to mod the block slightly to do this but its no biggie, same mod i have on my own 1800, so it wasn’t that, interesting info on the canister type though

No worries Lee can only hope that little bit of useless info saves a few people from an expensive bill. Got to say I am really impressed with the supercharger conversion you have done onto the 1800 (assume it is a Z18XE) and I would happily pay you very good money to do the same to mine in my Vectra if you fancy it? Just let me know the parts needed and I will get them all together
