Forest of Dean isn't all that far from me, supposed to be some easier trails than Cwmcarn up there as well, should drag my mountain bike up there one day!

Forest of Dean has a really good 'Blue' route which is worth doing along side the red route, last time I was there I actually found the blue ride more fun that the red. It also has the downhill runs which I haven't tried. I was at Cwmcarn and Afan Forest a couple of weeks back, really enjoyed it apart from the midges!

Another event in the New Forest on 6th October. Choice of 44, 66 or 100 mile events. Think I'll just do the 44

Cole - not heard of Friston, bit on a drive from Oxford though! I'm just signing up to the enduro at Coed y Brenin.

What are you nervous about at cwmcarn? There is nothing along the Red route that you can't roll over, climb is technical in places but you can just off in needs be

So I got myself a Giant defy 1, with pedals and shoes etc. What an eye opener why have i been messing about with hardtails on the road for so long. Longest ride so far has been 16 miles in just over an hour! Love it

Cwmcarn is awesome. To be honest for a trail rated black at the top section it's not that severe. I rode a blue trail at Forest of dean 2 weeks ago and that was worse imo

100 UV protect and polycarbonnate for£6.99!!! Fucking bargain. See how they go.

Never fully convert. I want to enter a MTB duathlon series starts in November.

My friend has one, he swears by it. However, he does work for Cannondale so his views may be slightly biased.

I'm getting back into biking to get some exercise as I don't do any at all. So the first time since I was 18 which is 15 years ago. Just picked up a Boardman mountain bike for £440 second hand.
So shall see how it goes.

It's actually really good fun, I've probably only seen 2 falls and not been anywhere near them touch wood. Think both of them were beginners, think my only real scary moment was almost crashing into the wall around the top

Got to velodrome to be told that the session was for 10-14 year olds only... so why not advertise it as such on the leaflet they've been putting out
Went out on the road bike in the end, set a personal best sprint time but felt really bored :/ and even worse so when some bloke bombed past me on his cervelo TT bike
