its amazing the noise difference going from 40mm trumpets to 120mm trumpets. induction noise sounds much nicer but also a lot louder
also, fuel tank and fittings look
how much does the heater matrix weigh roughly?

ill put it on the scales, but you need to remember its not full of water like it would be when in the car....... it takes a bit of water too.
i guess the noise is due to resonance (and cutting the bulk head to make them fit lol) pulled all the sound deadening off from the dash just now, was going to work on the loom but i washed my cav instead and tidied up my tools that seem to have gone everywhere..... thinking of buying a middle box for my tool box to give me more room...... not sure tho.
you removng the heater matrix?

Looks fantastic mate! Some serious cool bits
Out of interest why are you not sticking with the original fuel tank?

The only reason I asked is because I would have thought its heightening the centre of gravity of the car? Or would the effect on handling be negligible? Looks a cool piece of kit anyway

loom is messy now, cut alot of it out, Jim popped over and had a look, then ran off again.
the weight saving from removing lots of wires and stuff is pretty good! and it should make things alot less complex when trying ot refit things! removing a thatcham cat 1 alarm however is pretty interesting, hope it all works when the engine is fitted lol! have visions of it not starting.
found some wierd control box behind the fuse box aswell, i think its the standard alarm ecu? its not there anymore anyway!

Dont do it, it wont add as much space as you think and will just make your top box higher. Either get an end cab or a bigger roll cab!

I popped over at the weekend and can't wait to see the car on the road and going. The wiring was erm, interesting, lol. Looked like someone had pulled C3PO's inards out and left them in Marks Corsa, lol. It's surprising how much is there really.

today these arrived:
stud and nut conversion for the head, which is cool!
however i now need a cometic head gasket to suit! not 100% will look into it!
still waiting for my pedal box to arrive, bit of a mix up about it so they are sending it for delivery on friday now.
the wiring is nearly sorted now too, just need to stick a few wires back together.......... oops! its nearly time to get the engine sorted and refitted. going to do a dummy build first, then sort out the final bits of machine work and off we go!
spoken to a few companies regarding valve sizes recently too, so thats now sorted too!

the engine will have similar power/cc ratio as an f1 engine........ which i think is pretty cool for a NA 1.6 road legal corsa! some may say the engine is wasted in a corsa.....
dave, i wasnt going to do the conversion, but i rang SBD and they had one kit on the shelf, so i thought sod it!
i cant wait till its running either

I assume the head gasket will be a metal one then. Since owning my old Mk3 Supra if you want big power I have read that a metal headgasket(MHG) is a must only problem here is they require a very smooth or good RA finish to the block and head not normally done on a average skim.
Have they mentioned this and have you a good engine machine shop in mind.

the machine shop i use machines all our blocks for work and we have never had a problem with them yet.
we run 350+bhp on escort rst 1.6 cvh engines using £30 head sets, so having a metal head gasket isnt always a must at all.
the paper work from sbd states i must use a cometic head gasket with this stud and nut kit

probably so they can charge you another silly amount for a head gasket
I assume that the torque setting of the head stud kit is the same or similar to a standard head bolt (apart from the difference in how they tighten by stretch of course) but surely there wont be a big differnce in the actual clamping force on the head

dont need to buy cometic from SBD though.
I assumed you can get more pressure with the studs, not just the fact you can use them again.
not sure what torque my head was at.... just undid them

well, interior wiring of the car is now sorted, just need to pull a few wires into the engine bay and get rid of them, mainly head light stuff etc.
whats been removed:
and
this is how many fuses and relays in left with
i shall be adding two more fuses, one for the fan and one for the fuel pump, will also nee drelays for them both. accidently chopped the wires out so they will need replacing, the new ecu will control both of them anyway so its no major issue!
next im going o fit the gotech mfi pro x wiring loom and refit the dash, the fuses will be in a new fuse box mounted where the center consol was, will look nice there i think.
anyway, theres a fair bit of weight saved!

Fuck me you've taken some shit out there. You must be saving a hell of a lot of wait. When are you hoping for it to be done?

well i have everything to build the bottom end, just need valves for the head which i have the money for and they are on the shelf at the supplier, so in theory i could build it next week. however finding the time is whats stopping it from getting done! engine is on a stand ready for a dummy build to work out compression etc.... would like the engine fitted by the middle of march..... seems realistic!
removing the wires isnt just about weight saving, its making things simplier for when i fit the dials and management and its making things neater for me, want this car to be tidy, was a bit rough round the edges before, which if you look into the TV feature you will probably see for yourself!

Awesome, you reckon you could get another TV feature or would they not do it again? Has one hell of a spec this time around.
