Done some more work to the car lately.

Started off with making a front splitter. Big thanks to Keith Edwards for the plastic!

Next he made a new steering set up as the standard set up doesn't have a UJ and had ended up too high. Also finished off the raised floor for the pedals

Hamish finally got the rear oil cooler plumbed in, and set the tracking.

He has the week off work so aiming to get it MOT'd and on the road! He will be down at gti international in a couple of weekends time.

Ran into problems with mapping yesterday. Firstly the car was too short to fit onto the dyno which caused a bit of head scratching. Decided it was easiest to pull the front shafts from the gearbox and lock the centre diff and run it rear wheel drive.

Started mapping and he was running with boost controller off just on the wastegate spring of 0.9 bar. Car comes on boost nice and early think we were seeing 0.9 bar by 3700. It holds for a while then the boost climbs with more revs. Had to shut it down at 6000 at 1.8 bar and climbing hard.

Did a few more runs trying various things, ran the wastegate with no exhaust direct to atmosphere to make sure its downpipe wasn't a restriction same result. Then pulled the top port plug and you can see the wastegate is wide open. So it needs a bigger wastegate 60mm tial looks to be the one. That means manifold off to be modified and exhaust will all need changing.

He's going to leave the car together till after GTI international then pull it apart again! Its starting to get a little bit annoying this car!

Sadly won't be running the 1/4 mile at GTI International now though!

Took the exhaust side of the engine to bits this afternoon. The 60mm wastegate compared to the 44mm its huge!

He has worked out how its all going to work. The wastegate will sit in the same position as the 44mm, but the wastegate exit will feed back into the downpipe a lot higher up.

Hopes to have it back together in a couple of weeks at most.

The manifold and downpipe have been modified to get the bigger wastegate on to keep the boost in check.

Hamish had the car down at the Retro Rides Gathering at Prescott over the weekend. Got 7 runs up the hill. The car ran without any issues which was great. It seemed to handle ok but he wasn't pushing that hard.

2.40 into this video is the first run. First time he had ever given it some proper stick:

The car is hopefully back on the dyno very soon to make some proper power!

Was back on the dyno again yesterday at TEG Sport in Carnforth to finish off the mapping. We had a few issues with the dyno which meant no print out. Working out the injector duty cycle its making 700bhp at 2.2 bar boost on VP import race fuel.

Big thanks to Dave Rowe for all the mapping and twisting both rear shafts through 90 degrees!

Hoping to just have enough power to get onto the ED38 show field at the weekend!

On the way back from ED38.

Another 3 trophies for his collection, 5 from 2 shows.

1/4 drag racing end of this month too, see how quick it is.

Thought it was about time to show off a few bits he has been buying up recently to go onto the car over the winter to sort the suspension and drivetrain.

First up is a new gearbox. Its from an S4 so O1E 6 speed with wide first gear, flexible mainshaft and an oil cooler.

An S2 diff to go with it for the final drive. Thinking about getting some limited slip diffs to slot into the box and back diff.

A set of S2 hubs and shafts so I can get rid of the one piece ur quattro hubs and uprights, and get some proper suspension

A nice set of KW's to bolt to the hubs!

To fully sort the handling he picked up a front and rear bladed anti roll bar from an Escort WRC car.

A few more bits to buy up then the whole current drivetrain and suspension will be coming off and going up for sale if anybody is interested?
