Well we paid 30m for 28 yr old Berbatov
Suppose you you only paid £15m for 28 year old Arshavin

Berb was 28 when you signed him??
Yeah Arshavin was a one-off for us, cos unless we sell him next yr then we wont recoup much of that fee in future (and he was 27 when we signed him )

We'll probably stick with Rooney on his own up front and bring in Hernandez/Owen/Berbatov when needed. I bet Hernandez would of cost us a lot more if they'd waited till after the World Cup to sign him.
I still live in hope that Berbatov will be sold though

They won't get anywhere near that for him imo
He only has one year left on his contract, and is 29, they'd have to accept a 15 million bid for him, maybe even a 10 million bid, because he'd be available on a free next summer

Agent Jose Antonio Martin said: "It is very likely that Fernando Torres will stay in the Premier League, but I cannot say that it will be with Liverpool. We are working on his future but right now you cannot guarantee that he will stay with the English club."

His agent is called Antonio Sanz, Jose Antonio Martin Peton works for the same company but he's not in charge of Torres. Pinch of salt imo.

So Cosmo, do you think Woy will be able to hold onto these players who are all linked with moves away
Gerrard, Masch, Bruno, Riera, Babel
Adding to Benayoun who's already gone?

Im happy for the last two to leave as long as he gets the money to spend (doubtful) - Id of expected them both to leave if Rafa was still here.
As for the first, Ive a feeling Gerrard and Torres may stay but Masch will probably leave. Again though I think that may of happened anyway.

Yeah when they came out and said Masch was 2 weeks away from signing his new contract i asked a lad in work to give me 10/1 he goes in summer, he wouldn't give me that price but i was convinced he wouldn't sign and would be off

Yeah it was a bit strange he came out and said he was signing - even more strange when the club didnt get him to put pen to paper straight away.
I hope he does stay as he is a top class player - but he is the most likely to go imo.

Masch is as good as gone imo, although he's defo a bit irrational and seems to change his mind. I don't mind if he leaves as long as the money is re-invested.

Do you not worry a little bit that with no CL football now and City spending as much as they want Liverpool are going to struggle to attract the players they need to get them back there?
I mean basically you are the same as City this season, but they have much more money etc

It depends really, as it stands with the amount City are spending its Arsenal/Spurs that will be the 4th placed sides so it would be those we'd have to aim for - ignoring United, City and Chavski (unless they have a bad season).
TBH though, unless they give us some money to spend (we dont need City level of spending) and we keep Gerrard and Torres we can still push for it.

I'm very worried about all of the above, but with regard to attracting players we just have to wait and see, depends on the money available and roy's ability to sell his vision.

TBH Liverpool need larger amounts of funding than any other top half side. The squad depth they have if utter shit.

If I was Liverpool manager I'd want at least £400m to buy a load of greedy not quite world class players.
Like City.
